Hi, I need some advice please....
I have a year 2000 3.8 Mustang GT and every time I go out in it I hear a set of 5 warning chimes, each note about 1 second with a 1 second gap. This can be repeated up to 5 times in succession with a couple of seconds between each, then nothing for some time, but then it can do it again an hour or less later.
Nothing shows on the instrument panel, although I have a "service engine soon" permanently illuminated but this has been on for a couple of years.
Many thanks

Mine did that it was the electrical connector for the seat belt latch under the drivers seat. Started when I removed the seat to install seat covers. Guess I did not fully plug in the connector when I re-installed the seat. Bugged the crap out of me but since that was the only thing I had done to that point, I took the seat back out and cleaned up the connectors and have not had the problem since. Also if your door is not completely shut it will do that.

I shouldn't instigate, but I can't help it. When did they make a 3.8 GT? This would be one rare Mustang with only 1 made!

OP I kid. I'm sure it was a typo. It was right....?

Lol. I didn't notice that.

I don't live in the USA so apologies if my description is inaccurate....

However it is a manual change year 2000 ford Mustang, with a 3.8 litre engine and the badge on the rear describes it as a "Mustang GT".

Sounds like a previous owner mis badged the car.

Back on track, I'd check the connection previously mentioned. It's something easy and quick enough to check.
