celica GT-S - its slower than you think, but looks fast even standing still.
Mazda 6 - its got some pep, and IMo is one of the hottest sedans out right now. if you want some power with its looks, wait till the mazdaspeed 6 comes out, 2.3l turbo AWD.
Subaru - get a STi if youre gonna do anything, the wrx have shit trannies and the n/a 2.5's are slow as balls.
Jeep Cherokee - can you say rollover beethoven?
Jeep Wrangler - i still dont see why people like these things.
S-10/Sonoma - theyre pretty balsy, my buddy had a sonoma with the 4.3 and he kept up with my 4.6 bird. plus you can do all those sport truck things to them, its like rice for the truck crowd.
Maxima - bolt ons and nitrous fed one at my track, runs 12's I FREAKING KID YOU NOT. the guys 55 too, just bought the car for the commute then found the website about its potential and dumped some moola into it and all of a sudden he has a cult following, crazy stuff.
holy crap, you have a 12k limit. you know what i can do for you? you want AWD? look for a 1st Gen Eclipse/Laser/Talon, should be under 4 grand. awd, and stock should pull 15's. now drop about 3 grand into intake, exhaust, turbo, intercooler, injectors, pump, safc2, datalogger setup, act2600 clutch and youre talking low 13's to high 12's on pump. so for 7 grand MAX you have a 12 second car, and thats if you pay for name brand parts.
also for under 12 you can find a primo 2nd gen eclipse GSX for around 10k if you look hard enough, like i wish i had.

the only problem with getting like a WRX sti is i cant afford the payment or the insurance. and the only problem with the Eclipse is im guessing the insurance will be really high and i need a very reliable car. i dont kno when the first gen Eclipses came out but im thinking it was in the early 90s. now a GSX might not be out of the question, but i am still leaning to a wrangler for insurance and age reason and also there ability in the snow. any info would be great on these cars tho.

Wrangerls are actually pretty bad in the snow..they're so light they just slide everywhere.

Yes and No.
They are not light, they are over 4000lbs. They suck in the snow because they are short-wheelbase rear-wheel drive with all the weight up front. But they also suck in the snow because they are usually sporting the Goodyear Wrangler GSA tires...
New shoes and they are just fine.
As far as the original post, any 4.0L Jeep is a fundamentally sound vehicle. The engine core has been around for +/-30years, and they ROUTINELY go 250,000 miles before needing a rebuild.
I've owned two Cherokees (one 2.5L carburated and one 4.0L Fuel Injected) and two Wranglers (one 2.5L Fuel injected and one 4.0L Fuel Injected) and absolutely loved all of them.
You can't go wrong with a 4.0L Cherokee, plus Jeep has a cult following that exceeds Mustangs IMO.

Haha...i think like 8 of those sites are nates lol. I've had bad experiences with jeeps...but that's just me I guess. My friend's header broke for the second time this weekend, that's freaking loud. He tends to be attracted to light poles too...hit one...didn't do a damn thing to his jeep. Totaled out a car by rear ending it...has a scratch on his front bumper..they hold up to just about anything. His top also has a problem of coming off...while going down the road.

Wranglers are alright but a regular cab short bed 4x4 ford ranger is much better.
And anything will do good in the snow with the right tires.
Jeeps will always squeek and you will always beable to hear the wind roaring at high speeds.
Besides driving a wrangler feels like driving a very touchy go-cart.
I would go with the Ranger.

Timberwolf..that name inspires me to get another dip lol. I dunno about the whole ranger thing. I have a 97 ranger that spins at the sight of mud...

Nope...2x4 with street tires, 4.10 gears, and 2 sets of helper spring...bad example.
How about a 93 4 banger 5 speep 4x4 standard cab long bed with 31's...got one of those out at the shop. I've never driven it anywhere but in mud so I can't vouch for it lol

My Jeep doesn't squeak
And wind noise?!? What wind noise?
And don't forget; Ranger = IFS while the Jeep = SFA

And you can't beat SFA. Plus, Jeeps are just cooler than a ranger. I got all the ladies in my jeep.

I have a 92 or 93 ford ranger too. I am not sure which. I is blue, 4x4, 5-speed, short bed, standard cab, its got old 32" tires and full of mud. I have had it up to 85 miles an hour on the backroads scared the crap out of me in the condition that it was in but in the mud it never quits. I mean its alright on the highway. Its definately better than a wrangler both on the road and off.
