I am getting my trac-lok installed FINALLY and to those of you who tried to warn me that I had the 7.5 inch rear end instead of the 8.8, thank you! The guy that answered the phone at ford had no clue what he as talking about... I'll never doubt you guys again!
So gears: I'm torn because with my other mods I should be able to hit 60 in the low 6 or maybe hi 5 second range, but I bought this car as a daily driver and don't want to do anything that will take the good mileage away, will those gears significantly lower my mileage or is it a subtle change?
It just seems pointless to have a v6 that gets bad mileage. Suggestions?

so maybe people that drive on the freeway all the time are seeing 3-4 MPG loss and people that drive 50/50 are seeing 1-2 MPG loss...
I'll just flip a coin.

3.73 should wake your car up and not be bad at all on gas, go for it

well i have a 5-spd so the 4.10's were too short. It did make a big difference in acceleration though, you should really like it.

On my 07 V6 Manual, just pulled out the stock 7.5 and put in an 8.8 with 3.73 gears. I love it. Between the gears and the posi it makes a huge difference in the fun part of driving. Doesn't seem to be much difference in gas mileage. Just going by the MPG it displays on the dash and it's stayed pretty much the same. I've put abou 600 miles on it, about half and half city/highway. It runs about 2500 RPM at 75.

3.27 to 3.73 should shave off about 2-2.5 tenths overall

so if I can hit 60 in 6.2 right now, I should be able to hit 6.0 or 5.9? That would be pretty awesome for a 6!

Just got em installed and recalibrated the speedo, all I can say is AWESOME!
The launch from a stand still alone is worth it, (got posi and 3.73 together) even if you smoke the tires, you just back off a little and it launches HARD, i wrap up first gear in what seems like 2 seconds flat
5th gear on the highway seems fine and there's hardly a whine at all, downshifting from 5th to 3rd on the highway is freakin awesome, definitely worth the money!

That's really high, my gears put me at 90 at 3k, 60 at 2k, etc, and this is in 5th. I think my fourth gear would be 80 at 3500 maybe... It used to be that 80 was 2700 or so.
Basically, these gears make it so you multiply your RPM number by 3 and that's the MPH, so 1k in 5th is 30pmh, 6k is 180mph (yeah right, but in theory...)
