BAGHDAD, Iraq (Dec. 21) -- An explosion tore through a soft-sided mess tent where U.S. soldiers were eating lunch Tuesday at a military base near the northern city of Mosul, blowing a hole in the ceiling and leaving the floor littered with trays of food and puddles of blood. Officials said at least 20 people were killed in one of the most devastating attacks against Americans in Iraq since the start of the war.

Damn nearly 80 people a day are murdered in the US. Bad day every day for those Americans also
The national crime rate has dropped to record lows in recent years but the number of homicides has been rising steadily. After reaching a low point in 1999 of about 15,500 homicides, the number crept up to more than 16,500 in 2003, or almost six murders for every 100,000 U.S. residents.
Now I am not saying I dont feel for the troops but they are a war. The fact is we have a war right here in our backyard
Number or troops killed the first year in Iraq 800 or 4.5 a day
number of citizens killed in the US last year 16,500 or 45.2 a day
Hummm where is it more dangerous??????

population in iraq is nowhere near as much as the population in the states, so if your going to use that argrument then you need to put things in relative perspective.

That is bullcrap because we are not at war here are we. Come on dont be so blind do the math. Percentages are percentages. No matter what you should be safer here!!!
But to prove your wrong 280,000,000 divided by 30,000,000 is 9.3
So the US is 9.3 time bigger than Iraq
So 16,500 citizens murdered divided by 9.3 is 1,774 murdered. Still over 2X more people murdered in the US than Iraq when you equal percentages
SO I OWN YOU !!!!
Next Topic please
Alex I will take US History for 500 !!!!! THE DAILY DOUBLE!!!!! MUAHHAHAHAHA

Your thinking is flawed. We're not counting all of Iraq in the stated murder statistics. Just the number of Americans killed. There are roughly 100,000 troops stationed in Iraq. 280,000,000 divided by 100,000 is 2,800. 16,500 murders divided by 2,800 is 5.89. Doesn't seem nearly as dangerous now, does it?

No if we were counting all murders in Iraq it would be different but we are not and that was not the point More Americans Die a year at home than at war and that is a sobering statistic.
No I am not flawed. Americans are numb to the murder rate in the US all the while the press zero's in on the damn war. Not to mention the 35,000 a year that die in auotmobile accidents or the 400 policemen that die each year in this country
My numbers were based on population of people in the country and nothing more

Ya most of them are stupid gangsters killin each other for guns, drugs, cars, & money. They are all in bad neighborhoods. In Iraq people are getting shot in the back all the time. Basically it is alot more avoidable over here.

Its far more Dangerous to be in Iraq right now than in the United States, you can't deny that.
But there are obvious reasons for that to.
The fact is we got problems here in America and our soldiers are dealing with problems in Iraq. People are going to be killed.
