My mustang came with the non-mach system. I'm wondering if i can swap a mach 460 Head unit in without having the rest of the system (amps, speakers, etc.)? I want to switch it because i want to have the 6-cd changer and mp3 capibilities. BTW I hope to get the rear speakers/amps eventually but right now i can get a pretty good deal on the HU.

You'll need the whole thing because the headunit needs the amps to power the speakers.

yea you can pop in a dual din with little to no modification (only issue would be the middle part that bolts to the back of the dash area... but its probably not an issue)
