Found out today that the 3000 in question is a '95, 3.0 liter base model, no turbos, no mods.

It'll be close. They don't launch at all. Just don't race him on the interstate. All their power is at 80.

Ever heard of a koenegsegg(sp?) Search for the Top Gear video of it. And the quad turbo (dual sequential I believe) v-16? Haha, I like how back in the day companies used to make cars, although non production, that ran off tolulene with 70lbs. of boost that made 1500hp out of a 1.5 litre, pretty spiffy eh?

Ya my buddy had a 92 SL with nothing none but a k&n intake. His was front wheel and I wouldnt stand a chance racing him even though we both had stick. I could hit every gear perfect and he didnt even have to try to kick my ass. But those cars have a lot of problems... I know he could hang with z28 camaros for a fact too cause my buddy with one raced him with a 2000 z28 auto and they were right next to each other.

alright, i didnt read all of this crap, but there isnt 80,000 worth of mods for a 3kgt vr4. your freind either is exaggerating fast and furious style(you totaled a 80,000 car spilner, even though its just a GS) or bought really expensive parts and had them installed by people who charge 500hr for labor.
and 9 seconds, so far the fastest NON LEGAL 3kgt is in the 9's.
if its a stock vr4 expect a high 14 if he can drive.
mildly modded(upped boost and fuel, bolt ons) and maybe 13's
modded(16g turbos instead of 13b's, more fuel and tuning, fmic) and lrolly low 12 to high 11.
heavily modded(built motor, big single turbo, beefed drivetrain, lightened) and possibly low 10's. ^^^not street legal in any form though.
People need to realize whats street legal. just cause it can drive on the street without stalling out, doesnt mean its legal. street legal means the exhaust and catalytic converter are in place and functioning, all of the smog lines are in(egr and shit). i live in cali, i HAVE to know whats legal and not if i want to mod my car and run at the track legally.

oh and people say dsm's are unreliable, they obviously havent noticed the lack of actually modded 3kgt vr4 running around. ive yet to see one modded in my town. actually, ive yet to see a 3kgt vr4 in my town, just a bunch of measly n/t v6 ones.
