Nope, they don't offer a 5w50. That is a hard oil to come by. I think the only brand that I've seen in stores is Castrol Synthetic.

I nearly always used Mobil 1 or Castrol Syntec in my vehicles over the years...until I bought my 'Stang. I use Motorcraft 5W-20 synthetic blend and the Motorcraft oil filter. So far so good with 10,000 miles on her. For the person who asked about the anti-drain back valve, you are correct. It is supposed to retain enough oil in the filter to minimize "dry" starts. The Motorcraft and Wix filters also have bypass valves that will allow oil to flow around the filter should it ever get clogged, preventing a loss of flow to the engine. BTW, Napa Gold filters are made by Wix; they're the exact same filter as the Wix but with Napa's name on them. They're less expensive, too.

the type of oil that you use isn't going to be much of an issue if you are not running your car in high stress racing situations and as long as you change it every 3k miles. just take your car back to the dealership and let them change your oil for what is it now? $16.05? they recommend changing every 5k miles so take it to them every 5k miles if you drive your car under normal circumstances and if something screws up they get to pay for it
