The other day from an onramp stoplight i gunned it and got to redline in first gear, 72 MPH!, really suprised me, only had this car for about 3 weeks now and still getting to know it. I shifted from first straight to fifth, in fifth i still had plenty enough torque to continue to accelerate nicely. God bless engineers! :drive: If a honda did this you'd be seeing a nice pile of rice krispies on the freeway shoulder

whatever is stock, the SVT handbook that came with the car said it could do 72 in first gear and 78 in second (kinda strange sounding) and 152 in fourth and said ??? in fifth. It says the gear ratio's for each gear in the book, ill post em soon. I just didnt believe the 72 in first so i gave her a go.

yeah im gonna when i decide to go 410 or 373, im hopin with a cobra the 410 will be a little more user friendly on a daily driver than on a sixer or GT, i dont wanna spend all my time shifting

4.1's you would have to shift more cause it makes the gears ratios closer. your revs will be higher on highway speeds and such.
3.73's would be good if you dont really want to shift so quickly for daily driving, but still have the closer gear ratios for better off the line accel.

I just dont want any regrets. If i race a corvette and lose by an asshair im gonna be pissed i didnt get 410's but on the other hand when im going 75 80 on the highway and my borla stingers are screaming in my ear, i might regret that.. ::sighs::

get the 4.1's i hear alot of people who get the 4.1's and with they had gotten the next size up(4.53 i think). you wouldnt be able to tell much of a difference if you got the 3.73 or the 4.1, id just go with the 4.1 right off the bat. so what if the rpm's are a little higher on the freeway, you still wont be like me, 3000rpm doing 70mph. i hate my cars gearing and wished i could swap out final ratios like rwders can. id make them longer, 2nd gear goes too quick, and 3rd is my pulling gear even now.

import drivers act as though its a good thing to be able to go XX mph in first or second... its a sign that you have horrid gearing.

99 Vert, just get the 3:73's (trust me) unless you plan on getting a six speed anytime soon. Then I would get the 4:10's or even 4:30's. 3:73's are perfect. Unless you never plan on taking road trips. It will be 200 rpms higher @ 80mph if you get the 4:10's vs the 3:73's & maybe take off a tenth.

the 6 speeds final gear is not much better than a 5 speeds... which is rather stupid... unless you get a viper 6 speed and get a .5 final drive which would be amazing to have with 4.10s or more.

That's why you buy the viper tranny...change the bellhousing and it bolts right up to a Ford engine..it's the same dang tranny, just different bellhousing.

Seriously I'd be pissed if I could reach 70 in first gear, you know how much you're wasting with that gearing? Your gears, in my opinion, should be pretty evenly spaced out. As in 30 in first 60 in second 90 in third (standard for manuals, at least all of mine). I was shocked as hell when you said you shifted to fifth and I found out you had a manual. I'd be furious! It bothers me just to hear that yours is like that... And just like everyone said, 3.73's are pretty good and 4.10 is a bit much. My car started with a 3.15, then I put in a 3.23 then I put in a 3.91 and even the 3.91 is a bit high, that is of course with a different tranny than you guys have and a 7k redline. There are calculators online that allow you to put in different number and differentials with your make/model/year car and it will tell you what speed and what rpm blah blah

my buddys 99 snake only had 410s for a month before he got 373s.. around town he had to keep starting off in second cause he got sick of shifting so much... i kindof agree 373 stick
and 410 auto.
if you dont like it though you can trade them out...
i have 373s and half the power. i think 410s would be a waste...
but everyone has there own opinion
basically after reading this your right where you started lol
sorry

4.10's on a t3650 would be about 2500 RPMs at 75 MPH in 5th.. that's not terrible, only about 500 RPMs higher than stock (t45s are slightly different, their 5th is .. .67 I think?)
