couple of reasons i wouldn't even consider it.
1) it's significantly narrower so you will not have the same look you have now(your wheels will be tucked in even more).
2) you will have to convert the entire brake system with it because you'll have no brakets for the disk brake sytem, nor will you be able to reuse your old axles because they aren't even NEAR the same length. (79-93 and 94-98 can KINDA get away with reusing, same with 94-98 and 99+, but you cannot mix 79-93 with 99+).
if all you want from it is the t-lok, then yank it out and put it in the 02..it won't be that difficult and if you don't want to chage gears you can do it yourself and you shouldn't run into any issues...but one... your 82 didn't have abs, and most likely your 02 does, so you'll be missing a little part of the diff that is used for abs..not a biggie..you just remove it and you'll lose abs to the rear brakes. it won't harm anything, but your abs light will come on(pull out the bulb

). so if that's something you care about then you might not want to do that.
but if you don't care(cuz you'll still have brakes) then you can do that yourself in an afternoon.
