I've never really been into tires before, but i'm quickly finding myself learning more and more, anyway, the main point here is i have 3-4 tires i'm looking at in 2 differnt sizes (probably just one size, but maybe 2)
1.) kumho asx @ $659.28/$712.68
2.) toyo proxes 4 @ $808.88/$869.44
3.) zexuis xi-427 @ $658.20
4.) maxxis ma-v1 @ $534.96/578.48
i was also quoted some federal tires, but i don't think i'm going to go with them.
i put prices that i can get locally w/o having to source tires from other places which is what ill probably end up doing to hopefully save some money.
so my main question is what you guys think personally of these tires, ill be using them on a daily basis in the rain and sun. in wet weather i'm a lot more cautious, but in the dryer weather i would like to punch it have it stick. I would like miliage with them, but its not the highest priority. i don't do a lot of hard cornering, but would like the tire to maybe serve as a wet track tire unless i get a lot of feed back from autox'ers saying my r-comps are better suited for the wet track than these are.
thanks in advance guys
p.s. forgot to mention, the kumho's sound good right now, i like the price range, but i'm guessing 700 woulda kinda be my max cause thats like 3 paychecks or more... ( i might just have balding tires for longer than planned, lol)
EDIT: after all that i forgot to say, the first prices are 245/45/17's and the second is 255/40/17's wife is afraid of it rubbing on the front and the turning radius already kinda sucks, but id like to hear input on that as well cause i think 255's would be a little nicer

BFGoodrich G-force Sport - 245/45-17 $500.00
BFGoodrich G-force Sport - 255/40-17 $508.00
BFGoodrich G-force T/A KDW NT - 255/40-17 $656.00
All of these prices are from discounttiredirect.com - I've ordered alot of tires from these people, fast shipping and great customer service.
Been running that first tire for many miles now, great dry traction with your power level, great wet weather handling. The second tire is what I have on the rear of my car now and it will hold all but a clutch drop with 400 whp. With those on the rear and the G-force sports on the front my car handles like a dream.
Just my .02 cents on the subject.
BTW, I originally bought the G-force sports because a friend of mine put them all around on his Z-28 and it hooked from a dead stop on the street with them.

its not a bad price, like i said i'm probably going to source them off the internet than have them mounted locally unless i can just get some new rims too (which would be nice)
I've heard good things about the g-force, the guy at the place with the kumho's told me the tire did good in cold weather and didn't turn into a rock, any experience with the g-forces? the tires are going to be in wet freezing weather to hot dry weather.

I would go with the 245/45/17s to keep the stock tire height. Otherwise, your speedo is going to be slightly affected.

one tire calc i looked at said id be going 58.5 while reading 60, i think i wouldn't know the differnece, the only problem is my exaust is a little loose, and when i was doing auox with the 255 r-comps they rubbed a shiney spot onto the pipes, so i would have to fix that or stick with 245's

I would run 245/45/17's or 255/45/17's...I currently run 255/45/17 Toyo T1R Proxes as my every day tire...245/45/17 tires are a much more common size and as a result are cheaper...
The type of tire you get depends on what you intend to do with it...Are you going to autox on them any or will they strictly be street/dd tires?
If you intend to Autox them, the tires of choice would be one of the following:
Bridgestone RE-11
Toyo R1R
Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Spec
Kumho MX or XS
Falken Azenis RT-615 (I think they have a new coupound coming out though)
Yokohama Advan something
Thats really about it...Im sure I forgot 1 or 2 others...
If they are just street/dd tires, then any of the following would work:
Toyo T1R Proxes or T4 Proxes
Any of the BFG's stated above
Nitto 555's
and others...I would get something around a 300+ treadwear...
My dd tires are Toyo T1R Proxes and my autox tires are Dunlop Direzza Z1's...Again, shop for your tires at TireRack or DiscountTireDirect...A third option that I have used is Treadepot.com....All 3 are good choices with similar prices...
The difference between TireRack and DiscountTireDirect is that TireRack charges you less for the tires but they charge shipping...DiscountTireDirect charges more for the tires but doesn't charge shipping...The cost usually comes out about even...

i guess the autox part depends if the treaded tires would be better than my r-comps for wet driving, it tends to rain in oregon at random times of the year. If they would be about the same the tires would be for dd use, but if they are better in the rain than my autox tires, i would probably get somethin to cover both fields...

If I lived where you did I would have 2 sets of wheels/tires. Traction in any weather is much better than having a tire that will just do well on a track - be that drag racing, autocrossing, whatever your sport is. I have 2 sets for the cobra, dr's for drag racing and good all around street tires for everything else, just don't trust dr's in heavy rain myself.

well i finally got the sports in and mounted, i haven't tried a hard launch with them, but i haven't gotten them loose from a role even in 1st gear which would have my old tires spinning like crazy, i also want to take it easy till i get an alignment done, the inside of the left front tire was completely bald about an inch/inch and half in. so hopefully this saturday ill get it done, either that or tuesday, but i was planning on doing a lot of driving this weekend, so hopefully saturday is still availble.

it takes a bit for a new set of tires to show their true nature
