sounds pretty good how much would it run to step up to forged rods/pistons (price each seperatly) and of course arp bolts and what not, gaskets maybe also in the kit.

I was just pointing out that the 4.2 kit isn't something you can simply open the box and pour into the engine compartment. You will be, essentially, rebuilding the engine. Our Norwegian friends really should pull their engine apart and make sure they don't have to bore the cylinders or do other machine work before they commit to buying a kit.
My question is balance. How's it affected? Is it affected? What all swaps over and what all needs 4.2 only parts?
I know diddly about Ford engines in specific.

the 94-early 01 engines will go from externally balanced to internally balanced and that's why I was thinking of offering a pulley for these years. The late 01-04 mustangs were already internally balnced so they can re-use the stock pulley or an underdrive one. They can also re-use the flywheel, oilpan and the pick-up tube. The parts I listed all need to be put in the engine. The crank, pistons and rods. I think pete made a list but this is what you need no matter what year you have. So if you have a late 01 V6, you still need it, but it comes out cheaper for you since you have it already, you can just scratch it off the list.
- 4.2 crankshaft
- 4.2 pistons
- 4.2 connecting rods
- Late 01 V6 pulley and balancer
- Late 01 V6 flywheel
- Late 01 Oilpan
- Late 01 Oil pickup tube

the flywheel also is neutral or balanced so you will have to get a new flywheel to match the crank (at least i know i have a neutral pulley and neutral flywheel)
