ok thats the big question.

$500 for my friend's '99 17x8 painted cobra rims w/ nitto 555 up front, potenzas our b ack

$1000 for another friend's '03 17x9 painted cobra rims w/ fuzion zri all around

is there a real advantage to having the 17x9 over the 17x8

Hm...It all depends on the width of the tires...
I would run a 275/40/17 on the 17x9's...
and like a 265/40/17 on the 17x8's...
tires make all the difference.
And you can get brand new painted 03 cobra 18 inch rims with tires for around 1000...

my only real suggestion is don't stagger wheel sizes. Can't rotate =

now for imo, i'd go with 8s, i have 9s, and I don't need that extra inch. Unless you think you're gonna need it, don't do it, all you'll end up doing is paying more for tires.

But if you're like me...they only offer your rims in 18x9. I'd rather have 18x8...but they don't offer them, so I'm going 285 all the way around for that shock effect.
