I recently purchased an 97 convertible and I am taking the stock radio out and puttin a nice head unit. Problem is when I get the unit all hooked up I get no sound out of the speakers. When I put the radio back in it works fine, so IM totally at a loss

You have a factory amp apparantly. I suppose you got a wiring harness since you are hooking the factory one back up. Look in the instructions for that wiring harness and find the one that says "remote on/off" or "amplifier on/off" or something along those lines. Hook that up to the blue wire on your headunit the "remote" wire. It should work just fine then.

Nope not in my car. I've just installed enough radios to guess problems without even knowing what's going on lol. That's a problem alot of ppl run into.
