Pamela Rogers Turner (search), 27, was charged Monday with 15 counts of sexual battery by an authority figure and 13 counts of statutory rape (search). All the charges involved the same boy.
Turner teaches physical education and coached girls basketball at Centertown Elementary, a Warren County school with grades kindergarten through eight in McMinnville.
District Attorney General Dale Potter said investigators believe some of the offenses happened at the school and some at the boy's home.
Turner lived at the boy's house "for a brief period of time when she was moving from residence to residence," Potter said Tuesday. The boy's parents knew she was living there but didn't know anything about a sexual relationship, Potter said.

really times have changed, they need to revise that cut off age for being able to have consensual sex, a 13 year old knows very well what he is doing.

Ah, but a 13-year-old does not possess the knowledge or understanding of consequences to make a decision like that for him/herself. While they may "know what they're doing" sexually, I would strongly argue that they do not understand the consequences of such choices in life therefore must have our protection by law. |

yes which is the whole idea behind our juvenile justice system: children do not have moral capability, therefore do not know right from wrong. But as you have seen many juveniles have been tried as adults becuase it has been determined they did have the mental capacity to know right from wrong, You would be surprised how many 13 year olds out there know more than u or me about sexual relationships. People develop different and should be looked at in a case by case basis.

I understand that, but we don't need to be making it legal for anyone to have sex with 13-year-olds just because a few of them know where to stick their weewees. |
