im curious to know who works out here, and what methods are used, im just starting to get back into it again
i never really lifted weights, other than my junior year of highschool, i use my body weight primarily, chin ups, pull ups, push ups, leg lifts, sit ups, crunchs, squats, tricept pushups, and a few martial arts based things
what do you guy do?

I need to start working out again. Used to have a whole routine I went by..need to get back on it. Just a matter of making myself use my time better.

I do. I haven't been weight lifting lately since my bench is outside in the cold. Last night I did 300 situps, 100 crunches, 100 going left to right, and 100 leg lifts.
I did do karate for 8 years. One belt away from black.

I workout, but it's not so much for muscle mass as it is for staying in shape and maintaining definition.

rotate different muscle groups everyday. dont lift EVERYTHING in a single day. focus on a muscle group and work it hard. never lift the same muscles groups on days that are back to back. when you lift weights, your muscle fibers rip and eventually grow back and stronger. if you dont let them grow back.. well.. its not really effective. also, try not to lift on days that you drink alcohol. it decreases testosterone levels and working out will be all for naught if you do decide to drink. find out what works for you when it comes to lifting different sets of muscles everyday. and remember.. if you decide to lift weights and you cut corners.. you are only cheating yourself.

if you have access to a pool swim, it's one of the best things for your body. I personally run everyday and go to the gym, though not religiously anymore. I never had a pass but my friends always got me in, now I think they might be in trouble for it, haha. So I haven't been in the past couple weeks. My friends and I used to do everything there, squats, bench, military press, sit ups, balance exercises...everything. I want to start jump roping, it's good for you too.

I drink at least one protein shake a day, a weight gainer shake, and I drink an instant meal with almost every meal. Plus I work out 3x a week.
I have gained maybe 5 pounds in a month of that. I have a super high metabolism. It's almost all muscle though.

proteins -> muscle mass.
carbs -> energy, no use for muscular appearance.
my intake of carbs is well over 100g/day, and that is just from my supplements. I eat a lot of food high in protein as well.
Like I said, right now I'm not really working out for the mass or to get ripped, right now it's just for definition and staying in shape. The rippedness will come later.

If u wanna build muscle weight lifting and protein are your friends. I ussually do 4 sets of 12 to 15 reps, gradually increasing the weight in each set, increasing 10 pounds at a time is a good start. and yes definetly let give your muscles a day or two to recuperate. also don't kill yourself the first day u do weights, u really gain nothing. start low and add weight as u go along. If you are looking to loose weight then cardio all the way, mild weight lifting will also help, but only combined with cardio.

i workout at least 5 days a week, i alternate days however..like one day i will do all upperbody, then i do weight lifting with legs the next day, then running, and then finally different basketball related drills that i got from a college coach. as far as supplements i do weight gainer shakes before the workout along with protein bars over the course of the day.
