I have a 2004 Mustang with a Mach 460. Both front door speaker are not working. I checked the fuses and they are fine, so I have come to the conclusion that the front amp finally bit the dust. I have looked on ebay and cannot find a Front Mach Amp for my year of Mustang. I have only called one dealer in San Antonio, TX and they do not carry it . I plan to call the other dealers when I get a chance. If none of the dealers carry it, where would I found another? Junkyard?

Are the front tweeters working? I'm assuming the rears are working as well. All the tweeters work off of one amp in the front (behind the radio) and the front and rear woofers work off of two separate amps in the back.
The Mach 460 sound system was introduced into the 1994 Mustang. You should be able to fit any Front Amp for the Mach 460 system from any SN95 year, or from 1994 to 2004
EDIT: Here's some more info on the Mach systems:

The tweeters are working and also the rear woofers as well. When you put your ear to the door speakers no sound comes out of either side. Any help here please?

actually the 03 and 04 mustang dosen't have the front amp anymore. The left rear amp controls the front 2 lower speakers, the right rear amp controls the back to low end speakers. The tweaters or 2.5 speakers in front and back are controlled by the radio now. Took a while for me to figure this out but after installing a double din dvd i had found this out. one easy way to find out if the amp is bad is to move the right rear amp to the left rear amp and see if they work now. both those amps are exactly the same. Hope this helps.

The left amp was bad. Switched the amps around and the front door speakers came on. Found some OEM mach amps on ebay. Only thing is the front speakers sound like they need to be replaced. Can I put any speakers in the front that are 6x8 because Best buy told me that they had to "De-amp" my system but I know a lot of people who say this isn't true. Any help?

Yeah you can do any 6x8, some 5x7 will fit as well. You can sometimes get adapters that will allow the other 5x7 to fit 6x8.
You do not have to "de-amp" the system. Those Best Buy installers make me ashamed I ever was one.
If you decide to get a new radio you then have the option of "de-amping". You actually have a few options here. The near most complicated would be to run all new wiring, usually done if you do aftermarket amps.
Metra sells three harnesses for your car, there is the plain "non-amp" harness, which is a black and gray slim rectangular plug. There is also an amp bypass harness, which plugs into the input-output for the amp; this will "de-amp" the audio: all it does is cut out the amp. The third easiest option which is best would be the harness for Ford's premium audio system which is the same slim gray harness but with a black square plug. This is for an aftermarket radio and it allows the new radio to have the factory amps.
I am thinking now that you have no intention of a new radio, I have no idea where the notion of "de-amping" came from. The only problem I would see is that of resistance, or different ohms. Still, I believe Ford's audio runs on 4 ohm, equal to that of nearly all aftermarket speakers.
I'd suggest getting the speakers you want and the speaker harness for the car which makes the install go so much smoother, especially if you do not want to splice any wires.

I don't plan on changing anything except for the front speakers. I use to own a pair of Sony X-Plode speakers and the were great! Maybe I will go with Sony or Pioneer brand, do you think these would work for the front speakers? Is there anything special I need to hook these up to the factory system?

Not to hi-jack his thread, but, my front left door speaker stopped working about a week ago, and i'm pretty sure I have everything hooked up correctly on my aftermarket install. Any suggestions? It's a 2000 with just the regular sound system, no mach.

Make sure none of the wires are cut or something stupid like that. Then make sure everything is attached well. Then check how you wired the new stereo.

Will Aftermarket speakers work in a mach 460 system? Front speakers need to be replaced and want to replace with Sony X-plode speakers or Pioneer speakers. Any help?

Aftermarkets ill work. IMHO Sony isn't one of the first brands I'd choose, car audio wise. Pioneer is better (good), but not he best. It's hard since Pioneer makes 6x8 where as any other brand does not. You can try Alpine's 5x7 which should have a built in 6x8 bracket. Infinity makes a 6x8 as well as their parent company JBL.
Delta -
Check those connections. What is aftermarket (new) in the car? How much wiring?

Just the head unit. I got the right plug, etc etc, the speaker just stopped working. I'll have to go through the wiring tomorrow.
