Hi there! Does anyone know how to get 18x10 inch rims to fit on the rear of a 1995 Mustang GT? They are too wide and are rubbing on the Rear Axle Vibration Damper. Will a wheel spacer work or is it more complicated?
Thanks to all!

not sure I understand what exactly is rubbing?
I have 18x10 rims on the back of my mustang and all is fine, I do have an independent rear end but that shouldnt have much to do with it, people run those size rims all the time.
What type of rims, do you have a picture?
as far as the best fitment on your car:
check the rim's back spacing for me, if you lay the rim flat face down and put a ruler on the rip across (not the tire the rim) and measure from the back of where the rim mounts to the car to the ruler (the back edge of the rim) that is the rims back spacing.
For a 10 inch wide rim for your vehicle that number needs to be between 6 inches and 7 inches with 6.5 being perfect (as far as fitment goes without having to modify anything)
fyi offset of the rim is how far off center (center being 5 inches since its a 10 inch rim) the mounting surface is compared to the width of the wheel.)
If know the wheels offset I can tell you the back spacing, if the offset if positive take the rim width / 2 (in your case this will be 5) subtract the offset (if the offset is given to you in milimeters every 25.4 mm is an inch so convert it (most rims are about an inch offset) then subtract this result from the 5 inches. This is the front spacing of the rim, subtract that from 10 inches, thats your back spacing.
so to go back over it, your rims for a 10 wide rim to fit correctly should have a back spacing of between 6 and 7 inches.

flip the quad shock and it should clear. another alternative would be to buy upgraded lower control arms and ditch the quad shocks altogether.

Would all this give a problem on a 97 Cobra? I just got the car today and know nothing about it yet. I was looking to do the Deep Dush Bullitt wheels in black with 18X10 in the rear and 18X9 up front. Thanks.

You shouldn't have a problem. I'm running 17x10.5" rears and they don't touch anything. Not even that close if I remember correctly
