have a 05 gt. clutch was replaced, the other day. car put back together.
now check engine lght is on. low idle speed. there is also reference to a vacum leak. bad IAC. the exhaust is after market. the car does not sound the same at all. much more quieter then before. kicks and bucks in first gear, at low speeds, like rolling allong in traffic then hitting throttle to pick up speed. wants to stall if ac is on at a stop while idleing.

what is giving you the ref. to vac. leak and bad IAC?
also nothing involved in a clutch swap should have anything to do with the way the engine idles.
You need to check over everything that you touched on the car to see if anything is out of place.

it is my girl friends car she got the codes read, i dont have the paper with me. i am just going off of what i remember from the other day. i actually wrote this whole long post with all the info the other day, but it never posted up. kinda pissed.
i didnt think the clutch replacement itself was the problem, but i think the work when done might have upset something, ie something not hooked up fitting broke anytihng like that.
what does the IAC mean/is. never heard of one. what does it do. i have had onwed and worked on subarus. i just replaced my clutch the other day kinda cut and dry, i would imagine it was the same for the mustang. but i do know that anytime you work on something it can open a can of worms somewhere else. if it is a vacum leak how does it affect the car. willl it give low idle speed. does it only affect car it idle or loww rpms?
i heard if the wire harnesses for the o2 sensors were flopped that could b a problem too.
another thing, if the ecu was tuned, and the battery was kept out for like a few days, can that have any effect on the cars ecu, will it go into soem safe mode while it recalibrates, or is that just bs. i cant see how a fuel map will be changed by diconnecting the battery. you can see i have a lot of ??????????? i am just trying to troubleshoot a car i am not familiar with. just want to be sure it is one thing and not 2 seperate things going on.

the IAC= idle air control valve. it could very be that they damanged the o2 sensor or the wiring. also check for any exhaust leaks before the o2 sensor. that will make the car think it's running lean.

if all the electrical connections are not plugged back into the transmission when it was put back in this can cause major driving issues.

actually he did, considering the parts ford had him use broke. he had to do it twice. he asked for all the parts needed and they gave him the wrong stuff. then there was awhole who did what wrong, and it came out it they screwed up on there end. the project has been going on for like a month. we just dont think the clutch install, and this problem are totaly related.
she is almost ready to junk it over this, and get something else.
it is funny though my dad has always had fords, and every time you went to do something five other problems creep up. it just sucks that they jam everything in this car so close together you cant get at, or look at anyting with out taking the car apart.
ooh yeah why the hell would you tie your clutch and brakes together?

in the middle of driving it after it was fixed the first time the throw out/ slave cylinder bearing went. that is how i saw the brakes and clutch were tied together. the new one just put in blew apart, it was fun driving that with no clutch for like 5 miles. kinda funny though you really only need it to start the car.
where does this IAC valve mount hard to look at hard to get off?
where does the vacum system in the car all tie together.

heard a neew thing, is this true or some truth to it.
i was told that the 05 has a recall on the ecu, becasue if the power is lost for a certain amount of time the car will run horrible. needs a reflash from dealer to fix.
i know taking the battery out does not always do this, but i was told it has something to do with this particular year.

i dont think their is one, well at least nothing that looks like one. another thing leads me to believe there is not one becasue the 05 has a drive by wire throtle body. there is a servo that operates the butterflys. so why would you need an IAC valve when the computer can kill 2 birds with one stone so to speak. IAC, would be neeeded if the throttle body was cable operated. air can not get arounf throttle body with old style. now it has a servo operate it so the computer can open and close it at idle.
please correct me if i am wrong.

I dont know about 05 but mine is on the throttle body itself.
All over the freaking place would be the short answere.

ok here it is, the whole problem was fixed by, get this, cleaning the throttle body.
works just fine now. the throttle body servo was taken off clkeaned off, and no problem.
car runs like it should does not stall out.
went to a dealership to find out if this is a reeal problem, and i should have known better then to ask there, but they said no, and you should never have to clean that, and you should never have to clean the masss air flow sensor, and basicaly i got all the gloom and doom bullshit that comes with asking them. now the throttle wont work, it should be replaced now, and alll that bs. nothing is going to work right becaseu they did not do it. ok, thanks i told him.

dont blame the car for work that wasnt done right, if someone doesnt work on that type of car often then the chance they messed up is always there. I know I wouldnt want to jump into a clutch swap... just the price to pay to have it done cheaper than a normal shop but... who is to say that a normal shop wouldnt mess it up either.
