One of my friends was just talking about v8 4 wheel drive dodge ram. I told him i would race him. I have an 03 v6 auto mustang. With with true dual exhaust flowmasters 50 series and 3 inch pipes. Can i keep up with him. If not what do i need. Suggestions?????????? HELP |

im sure he will walk you..if not badly. ive walked pre 99 v6's horribly with a 4.2 F150

get a stronger car or mod the one you have seem to be the most common if you cant win...

More info needed, like what year, what V8, what transmission.
They have been building Rams since the 70's. The V8's have ranged from pathetic 150 hp 2bbl 318's to 375 HP 440's.

Did I hear you correctly....Did you say you had 3" pipes??
It all depends on how much you want to spend...Some people don't like to go crazy on a v6 because they consider it money wasted, especially if they plan to upgrade to a GT or a cobra one day. If I were you, I'd get the crank pully from VMP, a full-length intake, and gears (3.73s if you do a lot of highway driving, 4.10s for the opposite).
With those mods and your exhaust (which I hope is not really 3" pipe, but rather 3" tips) you should be able to take him easily. Good luck |

If my little 3.0 auto can hang with a 5.4 f150 4x4 then u should have no problem taking the ram if it only has the 318 in it.

f-150 crew cabs are slow.
a ram with a 318 could probably take him. i had a friend with a 99 ram with the 318 and he raced people all the time - and he won quite a bit. |

you're kidding, right? you plan on street racing the day you get youre license??? you have no driving experience, and you think you can just go race on public roads? i hope you get caught and lose that license. |

I've raced dodge 4x4's before...just playing around. They're pretty sluggish on the takeoff cuz they gotta get all that weight going...all depends on what the guy has done to the truck, bigger tires = slower, etc
