cai sound when started

after i leave my car in the garage overnight.. and i start it up in the morning i heard a loud rock crushing sound.. im just making sure that its the CAI i installed and nothing else.. its an 03 with 17kmiles so i would doubt any internal prob. however i'm just trying to make sure.. |

yeah rock crushing sound just doesnt sound to pleasant, but without a sound clip its kinda hard for at least me to help with. I'm sure someone will be able to help you out though

could be the rockers are draining back a bit overnight.. they make a nice sound when they don't have oil.. won't hurt anything

if you read the owners manual, they clearly state that "hard knocking noises from engine compartment" are normal and should not be worried about. At least thats what it says in mine. |

I have an CAI on mine and when I start it sometimes I hear a knock sound...and it sounds like its coming right from the CAI so I'm pretty sure thats what is it.

mines a '99 w/ 49k on it and it does the same thing overnite if i park at an angle. all the oil drains to one end etc. noticed especially after i got my alternator/ps pump replaced and that whining stopped.

with the exception of my bad alternator and p/s pump my car was a steal. i've invested more in it than i payed for it already. it had about 46k on it when i got it. still waiting on my short shifter though.

My guess will be that the CAI hits the inside of the car body, put something between the CAI and the car and see if it makes the same noise.

My '95 has 68k 
I get kind of a loud noise coming from the general direction of my CAI when i start it up, escpecially if the engine is cold. It didn't happen until I installed the CAI and it comes from the general direction of the CAI so i dont really worry about it....it sounds kinda cool. |
