Longtubes, unless your car is too low like mine. Can't really explain why they are better, just flows more cause they are longer. That is why equal length are better than shorties. Can't have long tubes in Cali & pass smog.

Since I live in Cali, I am getting the ceramic (bbk) equal lengths. Remember you have to raise your motor to put them in.

He is talkin about the 96-04's dippy. j/k I know the five oh's You can put in a cam without taking out the motor. Not the modulars it is a biatch to do cams/headers. It is almost not worth putting the headers in.

I have ford racing shorties on the '02, definite improvement over stock... sound if not power.. and it was cake to install (engine was out of car..) went with shorties for NJ emissions crap, and the fact that I wouldn't have to buy a new H pipe.. went with ford racing because I knew they'd bolt right up no problems nor supertuning required

cylinder heads were tapping very loudly, (with the windows down it sounded like someone was tapping a hammer against the engine..)- something with the cam guides or head warpage, I don't remember what it was exactly - it would also rattle badly on cold starts (lifter issue?)
so the engine was out of the car to replace the cylinder heads..

if the car hadn't been under warranty, I wouldn't have bothered, I would have saved up for aftermarket heads and just let it tap

You prolly would need an intake, cpu/harness, heads, & other things. I think you might as well go 4 valve. Or just get an 03 cobra block. I want to find a totalled (black) mach1 & grab the hood & shaker. I wonder how much it would cost.
