The cost can range widely but typically $ 60 - 100 That include 3 pulls or 1 hour.
You can get it cheaper if you either join a club or get in on a dyno day and 3 pulls can cost as low as $45-50
But I can bet some people on the West Coast where everything is high can pay as much as $150 an hour

I have paid $50 for 3 pulls and I have paid $80 for 3 pulls. depends on group dyno days vs the shop vs time, etc.
You can tell your horsepower at the wheels thru a dyno. It also measures torque since horsepower is a direct number based on a mathematical equation of (torque*rpm)/5250. If you look, all proper dynos will have the torque and horsepower lines cross at 5250rpms.
Sometimes you can also get your air/fuel ratio printed out as well. That tells you how rich and lean you are running.
All these work in correlation to show if a specific mod added horsepower to your top end or bottom end or all across the power band. The old butt dyno just doesn't cut it for factual data. You can also see how smooth the dynograph is to see if you need tuning because the mod made it jumpy or not.

Three pulls mean you run your car 3 times. Usually though you only get a 15-20 minute window for 3 pulls. if you're going to do any tuning, it has to be VERY quick, like with an AFPR or something. Over at Ft.Mill is was something like $65 for 3 pulls.

down here i Baton Rouge, thunder racing offers these rates
3 Pulls $79.00
1 Hour Dyno Session for testing & tuning $99.00
1 Hour Wide Band O2 (In addition to Dyno) $35.00
Which is about what everyone else was posting. Figure about $100 or less for three pulls.
