I already have 2 17x9 cobra r's. I was wondering what other two sizes I should get for the back? Should I get 17x10's or 10.5's? Remember my car is lowered 2-2 1/4 inches. Thanks for the info. For the mean time, what size nitto drag radials should I get for my 17x9's?

315 Nitto DRs fit great on 9" rims. They are too narrow for wider rims. Are your plans to get drag radials all the way around the car? You mention you are getting 2 wider tires for the back. If you stay 17x9's in the back, the 315 nittos would be great for that. If you go wider in the back, you may want to consider another brand of DR as the 315's on a 10.5" rim look too small.

nitto run narrow as was stated, so get a larger size than normal in them.... for the back i would go a 10 inch with a 315 mm wide tire.

Yes they will, according to smurfin. Thanks again guys! 315's on my 17x9's are more than enough. Btw, how much is the price difference between the 275's & 315's?

www.discounttiredirect.com has the nitto's in all sizes. The 315s fit perfect on a 9" rim. The Nitto 315's are actually about an inch narrower than say a BF Goodrich 315. Figure that one out. You shouldn't need to do any modifications to anything. No spacers needed. Nothing. They just fill the rim completely. No issues.
Link to the nitto's.

they are all different due to there is no real standard to go by... every tire maker goes by their own little rules... you assume 315mm is just that... but its not... they should DEFINATLY formalize a standard and stick em to it.

Yeh, all manufacturers are different. I bought new 225's and I swear these are nearly an inch wider than my goodyears.

Actually all tires are measured the same, The real difference is the side wall. A standard radial will have what is commonly called ballooning where the tire rounds out from the rim to the ground. A tire with soft sidewalls or no reinforcement on the sidewalls will do this. Now some tires double reinforce sidewallls making them stiffer and better for handling. My Dunlops do not balloon at all almost perfectly flat wall from the rim to the ground. My previous tires Michelin had a slight ballooning and the BF Goodrich ballooned a lot.
So if you are into Performance handling and cornering you want stiff sidewalls and little ballooning. If you are into drag racing ballooning is not a problem.

The 275x40's will be good in the front. They worked great on my GT when I had 9" rims.

there is no true standard to tire sizing, every brand does it their own way... you would assume XX mm is just that... but its not they are all off, this is why a nitto 275/40/17 is more like a 255/45/17 in width... they need to get in there and standardize it.

a 35 series tire is the percentage of the width, so 35% of 335 = XXmm and 40% of 275 = XX mm, when those are the same you have the same side wall front and back.

Actually the DOT standardizes all tires and approves all tire tires before they ever get to production. The Idea of standardization to the actual width and hight is + or - normal deviation of a rubber product and the material rigidity.
Like I said some tires have thinner sidewalls and balloon more lower the height and making the tire wider. Stiffer walls will not balloon or give as much which the tire appears thinner and talle r
