Metallica sold out long ago. 
Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Ozzy in his Black Sabbath days, if you like to bang your head.
AC/DC is without doubt the quintessential rock band. Lead guitar, Bass, drums and lead singer, the stereotypical rock band and they ROCK!
If you like rock that makes you think The Pink Floyd or Rush.
If you like rock with no consequences try the Beatles or any of the hippie bands like the Dead.
Mellow rock? Santana or the Doobie Brothers is a good choice.
Gonna get some rock? REO Speedwagon, Journey or Styx.
So, what kind of rock are you looking for?

as for rock songs anything from Diecast, All that Remains, Bionic Jive, Mnemic
they all kick ass in my opinion 
BTW I see alot of people are talking about old school rock. Let me put it to you like this. If you dont know the classics that make this genre so damn good you dont dserve to be listening to rock should be listening to country or some stupid sh*t mmhms

Lamb of God used to be really christian, now they sound alot better.
Download anything by Dream Evil if you want something new but sounds like early 90's metal. They have really hard guitar riffs and the singer's voice is crazy.
