"When Ben Ellison, 15, gets his driver's license next month, he dreams of driving a midnight blue, low-riding Honda with monster horsepower, a performance exhaust system and, inside, blue neon rods that glow with each beat from the stereo bass."
Did I just see "Honda" and "monster horsepower" in the same sentence? Somebody needs to teach this kid about cars. It's out of an article on MSN about chips in cars that monitor kids' driving habits. Kindof an interesting read:

Well lets be logical for a minute. Being that you are closer to the beginner driving age, you know as well as I that some kids do need this and this gives the ability of the parents to monitor a less than trustworthy but at the same time allow him driving priviledges

It is not spying if you know you are being watched. Who cares if they know, as long as the kid drives normally, it does not matter. This is about saving lives and preventing the kid from damaging the parents car, preventing ticketswhich calls steep increases in insurance premiums. It will also help in determining if the ked is responsible enough to be driving. How kids drive now will determine what kind of driver he becomes in the future.

I didn't read the article, but it sounds like something my dad has in the trucks for his workers. He works at Bellsouth, and their trucks have GPS trackers, which can read location, speed, whether the truck is on or not, etc.
There has been some talk recently about requiring auto manufacturers to put these "black boxes" (which are orange, btw) in cars to easier sort out confusion after accidents, etc.

they had that chip out a while ago. when my parents saw that they were like "wed rather not know about your driving habits"
i think its bad parenting though. what kind of parents would let their kid own a "tricked out honduh". what would be funny is to put that on any kid under 18 with a honda and watch them on the GPS on how they all seem to gravitate together. like a flock of stupid kids "we see here the rare hondus vtecus in the wild, notice how he will make loud noises to intimidate his predators, but when he is under attack he will return to the flock for he thinks theres safety in numbers".
the day will come when all cars will have this technology(which most people wont even know they have it) and all their movements can be monitored and tracked, and law enforcement wont even have to witness them breaking a moving violation for them to be ticketed.
