This is just to help those who live in NY or ever come down here. Mustang magic is a shop that has a very well known reputation. They are always overpriced and have enormous egos.
a buddy of mine took his 2004 mach 1 there, beautiful car and had them put a procharger on it and tune it.
They blew his motor....and now want to take no responsiblity for it.
please guys, i dont want anyone else to get sucked in to their reputation. i went there 3 years ago as well and they wanted to dictate what they put on my car. i had NO say in the matter.
anyone in NY, watch out!

To be honest... if your friend signed a waiver when they went to tune the car, and then it blew up... he's out of luck, UNLESS... UNLESS he can prove gross negligence.
Most of the times REPUTABLE shops have you sign a waiver releasing them of liability in cases such as these... so your friend may be out to dry on this one.

Wow I haven't heard of this, very surprising. Has Joe said anything about this?
M.M. is a very reputable shop around here for Mustangs, I have never been there but the due seem to carry for a certain crowd.

They are very reputable, but you havent been there so you dont know the attitude. ill never forget it. being told by a shop that they willl put on what they feel like putting on is unexceptable.
i dont know more details about this mach 1 because i met the guy in my shop. my guy is pulling the motor out and sending it out to be machined.

I remember I took a cruise out to Montauk with Joe and he seemed like a nice enough guy. But I have never been in their shop so I don't know their attitude. For a shop to turn around and tell you what you can do with your car? Hell I know there are other shops here on the island I can go to, I'll tell all my buddies about what happened over there.
As for gears, an old friend got his done by some mechanic that he knew or met. The install was cheap and perfect. My friend had nothing but good to say about his gears.

I actually do not trust any shops in NY. I went to college there and I'd talk to people before getting work done. Afterwards, I'd always just do it myself

This is the one reason i regret living in NY, im actually going to have to agree on that, i do not think that shops that i know of here are up to par with shops i read about in maryland for example or even NJ for that matter.
very sad.

Ken - What are you looking to get done?
Red - Where did you go to school up here?
Me, I'm a die hard NY'er I just hate all the ass hats that live here, and the climate. Hooray for the first sunny day in a month.

Osiris: I went to the United States Merchant Marine Academy in the Kings Point/ Great Neck area.
Ken: I'd try to do it yourself with a buddy if it is anything that doesn't require a retune, unless you can get a trusty mail order tune like one from Brenspeed

anyone in NJ, check out radical racing in Atco..
Prices are on the high side BUT can be negotiated down, and he's great at tuning..
He gained 16 HP out of my NA 92 mustang with just a tune
Matt Hill Motorsports in Shiloh (? may be in bridgeton zip code)
is a newer business but the guy is great

ah you guys are awsome, now i have some places to actually check out lol
orisis- at this point i had a new fuel pump put in and 4:10 gears. The tuning is still not perfect, i need the speedo put down 5 more miles per hour, but the bigger problem is that when i cruse in the car at like 80 somtimes, it feels like it staves for gas for one split second, it feels like i let go of the throtle and then comes right back. its can be alarming to say the least. if i knew about these guys in bohima i would have just gone there.
thanks again for the help

I think RealSpeed is much more prepped for Mustangs. All of those places are sponsors of the local car club (LIStangs). There's always a "Thanks Eddie..." or "Thanks etc..." for Concise and Realspeed so I do know these shops see our type of cars.
As per replacing (or upgrading) the fuel pump I think the SN95's are relatively easy to change, don't know about the S197's, but then again I've never did either.
As for the gears I remember two guys that got it for cheap. One I knew through a friend of a friend who put in 4.10 in his '06 Manual, he could of paid higher, I'm not too sure. The other guy I used to work with and I believe he did 3.73 in his '02 Manual. I remember him saying something about the guy was a real mechanic but didn't have a legit shop, so he did the work in his backyard for cheap or something.
I know none of this helps now but I just felt like typing.
And when you do come out here, let me know. There's a car meet nearly every night or day.

bro every little bit helps. especially liveing here its good to hear this stuff. i think what complicates my gear situation is that i drive an auto. for some reason just putting in 4:10 gear ratio into the computer program didnt work, so hes bringing the speedo down via computer and i think its not downshifting right cause its still off by like 5 or 7 mph. so thats my dilema.
the fuel pump for my car was also very complicated because its a v6, most are made for v8s. its in, seems to be working but its weird somtimes im crusing at like 80 and it seems like it just looses power for 1 second and them comes back. the filter was changed like 6000 miles ago.
lets see what happens, im not sweating it.

So here we are like a month later and this past saturday was my appointment with Realspead. Funny thing acutally met dan on the way there lol didnt know who he was but asked if he was going to real speed, he said yah and then i followed him there.
Dan is the main man at realspeed. This guy worked on my car from 11am till freaken 7pm. I mean he is a perfectionist! he really really knew what he was talking about, this shop knows mustangs inside and out. Dan is a SCT certified programer, which means he has access to tools in the program that most shops do not. i was with him in the car holding the lap top for the last 2 hours and he was perfecting the second gear shift in 1/4 throttle.
Now my car runs smooth, i only drove it for 1 hour but it was like having my old car back.
If you live in NY and you want to go to a shop that really knows what they are doing, i really recommend Realspeed. infact as long as i live here, ill never go anywhere else again! They were also extreamly curtious and freindly and that never hurts.
osirisguy.....thank you sooo much bro! if you hadnt suggested them my car would just still be sitting there and i would never drive it lol

I'm glad to hear your car is running top notch again!
Funny thing is I have yet to go to any speed shop so I have no personal experiences with them, I just know their reviews lol. You're not the only one to compliment Dan though or the company they are just like you said, great people doing great work
I think I mentioned it to you already but they are having a Dyno Day, I think it's like Oct. 14. I'm hoping to be there.
