hi. I'm building a pc and all dip switches are set to defaults on the MB. everything else is wired up as per MB user guide. the problem I'm having is when i give it power, the case fan comes on for about 2 seconds and then shuts off. i have to remove the power cable for it to try to power up again....
I'm sure it's something simple I'm overlooking but...any ideas?

yeah it came with 3 plastic ones to keep the MB off the metal portion of the case. I just reseated the CPU and tried another power supply, no change...

i would have said try another psu... but you already did does the mobo take a regular power connector ( the long one ) only or does it also have a ATX 12v power slot on it?
have you checked all the components... tried a diff set of ram, made sure the cpu is seated right with a heatsink and thermal paste, can you get it to do anythign or does it just come on and them go right back off...
try messing with the switches, make sure they are on right ( not upside down )

thanks for your help. I removed the cpu and powered it up, stays on. I bought the OEM type not retail with heatsink. I take it thermal paste and a heatsink is needed...I wasn't sure if it was or not but i guess now I know haha
thanks again

I figured 4 case fans..no probs, luckily i didn't find out the hard way haha. I don't plan to overclock this one, this is my first build and it's for a friend of mine. When I go to build mine probably next month, I'm gonna overclock that one..I hear it can be a pain though..but that's half the fun right? haha

i just built a nice 2400m xp pm me if you want some pointers, if you stay 32bit that is... either way yea no matter how cool the case is if you dotn have a fan on that cpu ... it wont like it at all. I have 6 fans in my case and my fan controler wasnt on enough to juice my cpu fan to start moving... so my cpu fan didnt and right about the time I got into windows i got a BLUE SCREEN lol that was the issue... and I had a heat sink.
just go to newegg.com and buy one for cheap, brent found me one for 25 bucks TO MY DOOR they come with thermal paste usually just read up on the item.

cool, thanks for the offer. and yeah, newegg is where i got all my parts from..by far the cheapest (with quality products unlike togerdirect) out there. I went ahead and ordered it so it should be here next week
as far as my personal build, I'm going 64 bit so I don't have to look at upgrading for awhile. amd 2800 processor as well.
it's amazing how cheap stuff is out there...lot less than buying a dell or prebuilt pc...less money for pc, more money for car
