Hopefully this isn't a repost, if it is let me know...hell, just delete the damn thing
What drew you to the mustang, this can be your first mustang, your most recent mustang, or any mustang in between. There has been a selection of cars to choose from over the past 20 years...so it'd be interesting to know what made you buy it.

My biggest reason was price and the overall looks of the 99-04 model. I initially looked at Ws6 firebirds (back in 05), but couldn't find one for under $19k. My insurance premium would've been nuts for an 03/04 mach 1 -corvette comparable, so that didn't fly, and the GT wasn't much better (I was 15 at the time).
So, I settled for the v6...glad I did with a 70+ mile round trip to school every day for 2 years.

Well it is the legendary Mustang and Ford doesnt make a Torino no more. But I couldnt swing the insurance premium either for a V8 mustang and I wanted a Mach 1 as well. So I got an extremly good deal on my 2006 Mustang V6 (very low miles 25000 for $10K) and insurance is much cheaper, but let time pass and Ill get one (a year or two).

Pretty much the same story here. Insurance kept me from getting the v8. Technically I could've afforded the insurance, but I didn't want to dump all my income into insurance, still gotta have a life (sophomore in high school)
You did get a pretty good deal. Mine wasn't too bad, $11.5k out the door with 17k miles.
That was back in March of 05.
I'll wait till after I graduate (2 years) then buy a 03/04 cobra or a super low miles Mach 1

I was looking around for sports cars and saw the silver v6 I ended up buying. It was definitely a love at first sight thing. Then I totaled it out 3 years later... and had seen this "amazing blue color" for Mustangs. And upgraded to the sonic blue GT. Happiest car day of my life

I grew up around fords and mustangs. Though i've heard my dad talk about owning other brands, he's never owned one in the almost 30 yrs i've been alive. Fell in love with my first mustang once i sat in the seat. 77 mustang II 4cyl 4 speed. Drove the piss out of that thing. Have had a few since then, but none of them compare, though my current GT is a close 2nd

Oh I definitely hear ya on the "amazing blue color"
It really was selling point #2, right after the price tag
If I get the cobra it'll have to be sonic blue, and the mach 1 will have to be azure blue, though it isn't as captivating as sonic blue.

I've wanted a C5 since '97. I finally found myself in a position where it was financially plausable.

Growing up my father was always a die harf Ford man. I decided to piss him off by loving classic Mopar's. I've always liked and respected the Mustang but felt drawn to the the Hemi. Unfortunately Chrysler has led their car's into the ground. I've owned nothing but dodges until I started selling Fords here in Vegas. Took an 06 V6 out to get some papers signed by a customer and got hooked bad. I couldn't afford the GT at the time but that little 6 had some balls to her. Special ordered my 07 pony package Alloy (I fell in love with that color) and haven't looked back. Until I can go out and get my 71 Challenger it's gonna be nothing but Mustangs. Even then I'll still have a pony in the stable as a daily driver.

My first car was not very reliable but it did the job. I finally had enough of it and went to trade it in and found a 97 white v6 mustang that was a year old. I traded for the car and I have been hooked ever since. I am now on my third mustang. I hope from now on though I can collect them, not sell and only keep one.

always liked hte 94-98 body style, since i first started seeing them around (before i could drive). I found a 96 black v6, but it sold like 3 days before i was going to buy it, i was looking for integras for a budy and found my current v8 on autotrader about 300 miles (+/- about 25) one way. My wife decided it was going to be our car and now it is perfect condition cept for the hood (only part of the car that has rock chips) 75000 on it, priced at 5k i put 1k down and got a loan for 3400ish... now if i could just afford gas... lol

Was looking for a 4wd truck...saw a white V6 on the lot and fell in love after the test drive. The salesman knew he would sell it to me if I drove it lol.
Since then we've kinda started collecting them...

I was building a high power E30 with a SR20 swap and needed a reliable daily driver. I ran across the mustang and it caught my eye. I had never considered a mustang before and didn't plan to mod it when I bought it.
Decided not to build the e30 after the local import scene developed a strong sucking sensation. Made it the daily and started modding the Mustang.

I fell in love with the 68 Shelby's when they came out. I have always wanted one but could not afford it. One day my daughter and I visited one of the local Ford dealers to look at the mustangs they had in the show room. There was a 2008 Roush Stage 3 (she loved), 2009 Black GT500 and a 2008 Red GT500 vert. I decided right there that I had to just throw caution to the wind and get the vert. It is the first Mustang I have owned but had always wanted to get one. Loving every min. of it now. Best decision I ever made.

hmm, i likethis thread. well, as a kid i grew up around chevy's and honda's. my brother actually still fools with hondas. his current little hatch has been 9.80's @ 150+!
my first hotrod was a 70 cutlass 442. i did a lot of work to it. built, forged 455 HO w/250 shot. that was when i was 15. i did it all myself and was rewarded with a 10.13@128. it was a boat though hence why i didnt go 9's. ive fooled with stuff my whole life. well, when i finally decided what i wanted to do with my life, i decided i wanted to work on cars that had most problems. i chose ford (shoulda chose GM lol!) well, a buddy of mine called me up cause he had problems with his truck. he ended up needing and engine rebuilt and some other work. i fixed it all and he was low on cash and offered a mustang as payment. i couldnt refuse. ive been fooling with this thing ever since. i actually used to hate ford as a kid not knowing any better
i dont see myself not having a mustang now

I fell in love with the Mustang back as a kid. My uncle had a '70 Mach 1. I grew up drooling over the 4 eyed foxes of the 80s. Bought my first one when I was 14 ('81 black T top hatch). I'm 30 now, owned about 10, and have not been without at least one in my collection since I picked up that first one. Had the Roush the longest (7 years).
Done fuel injected versions, carb'd versions, nitrous set ups, blower set ups, N/A set ups, street cars, drag cars and open track cars. I just flat love 'em.

Wel my first car was a 1991 ford probe lx v6 5 speed. When my dad told me about it I was like nah. Then he took me to see it and it was white with black racing stipes. (whats a 15 year old to do)? I got it, and after about a year the clutch was shit the motor mount broke U joint was bad and the engine burned oil no reverse lights. In other words it was hard to drive and impossible to back up. So one day i went to my neighbor who sells cars and i said what all do u have and he told me he can get me anything i want and i said i wanted a good car for around 7 grand and i mentioned mustang and he got it for me a month later and I haven't gone back to anything else.

I had always loved the look of the mustang, especially over the camaro and firebird. I had my eye on an 04 GT and they sold it on me, so I took what I could, hence the sixer.

Here's the path...
'73 Gran Torino (351W and sloooow but cool)
'76 Olds 98 (455 and landing decks fore and aft)
'80 Saab 900S (automatic and junk)
'80 Saab 900S (5spd and a great car till a wreck)
'78 Corolla (850cc!! big orange chicken or something on the hood--hilarious)
**** Life Changes Here: '70 Chevelle (mean green with a 350. always breaking down and a terrifying thrill ride. tons of power + drum brakes=yikes. I loved that car till it died) ****
'85 Accord (reliable well past 225k miles, but I missed RWD and HP)
'91 Civic Si Hatchback (fun, practical, reliable--but MAN...I miss RWD and HP!!)
So what is out there with reliability, some modern amenities that the Chevelle lacked, but with RWD and a flavor of old-school muscle car? Not a lot of choices out there. Mustang for the win!
I've been driving my '94 for...7 plus years now. We have a record.

Yah I was looking at Ws6's too, but couldn't find one for less than 18k in decent shape (I wanted a lower miles car because I had a 60+ mile trip to school everyday). It didn't help that people still thought they were "gold" because they stopped making them in '02.
I finally gave up on them and turned to Mustang...glad I did

wow my story is much longer lol
i grew up with my dad always always having a caddy. never really cared much. when i was 17 i got my moms 1987 nissan sentra hachback, drove it till the engine blew up (only took 1 year) then i was going to college so my parents got me a NEW 1997 nissan sentra. i drove that 180,000 miles till a head blew........in dec 2004.
so now i wanted to go all out and get the nissan altima lol my mom and dad were taking me to the nissan dealer and my mom was reading some magazine and she says....hey you know the new mustang is suposivly a amzing buy. now i never liked the fox bodys, or the styles that came after (sorry guys) so i ignored her.
we went to the nissan dealer, i sighned the papers, for a silver nissan alitma. on the way back we passed a ford dealer, my mom forced me inside...as the guys talking im just staring outside....that old car is NICE....i love old mustangs (68-72ish). So it tell the sales man, hey....listen dont waist my time, but i want to know how much is that old car outside.....he looks at me like im stupid and says thats the new one! i go...i sit...in..and....i wont come out lol my dad comes over hes like what are you doing.....i said dad i cant get out.....i love this car, i want this car.. HE is in SHOCK, because i was never into cars, and never into sports cars..but this.....is a MUSCLE car....totally diffrent.
longer story short, i convice him to help me buy one but couldnt get him to get the V8, instead got a v6 in dec 2004 when NO ONE had these cars. plus my old car was like 120 hrs so bigg diffrence.
this car changed my entire life.....everything.....today i work as hard a possible so that one day i can own a gt500..or i can do more mods to the car. its made me work toward sothing....and im the guy who at one time almost put the oil where the radiator is...lol today im a gear head......
One car can change your entire life....never thought it.....and today my mom regrets the day she mentioned MUSTANG. lol

Exact same thing happened here. I couldnt find a WS6 for a reasonable price. So my old lady said hey how about a Mustang. A day later i bought it and have not been dissapointed at all. I love my car.

I just have always been around Ford vehicles. My father work for Ford for about 20 years and he always had fast fords. He pasted away when I was about 17 years old. I bought my 1st mustang at 18 and have been hooked! I have owed a 02 Lightning, 1989 Saleen, and about 12 other mustangs. Just who wouldn't love to have a mustang

Coulda swore I already wrote my story in here, but maybe not. I'll keep it short.
My love came from my brother's '94GTS when we did a full H/C/I swap. I was 12 years old and just dove in. After a few months I could do basically anything I wanted on that engine from the heads up. I grew to love the car, racing, and Ford. I have never ever regretted owning a Mustang or a Ford. Had a 95 Ranger, 01 Cobra, and now 04 Cobra.

I got n awesome deal on a 96 GT convertible...low miles, but junk top...replaced the top and it was as good as new. 2 or so years later, got nailed by some idiot and collected almost twice what I paid on inurance...loved my 1st stang (second car) so much that I had to get another one...decided that I like the 99=04 look better after seeing my girlfriend's mom's awesome 02 and ust had to have on like hers...found one at a decent price, and it's been happiness every since.
