ruger model 77 in .223... for now... hopefully a kimber .45 when i get some money
my mustang has to sit outside... but the previous owner had ford put in an alarm and it goes off pretty much whenever... i can't even get in my car with the key... and the alarm goes off if its set and i try to start the car also...

Right now a factory upgraded alarm that drives me crazy, but soon enough a ridiculous over the top Viper Alarm with LED in the door panel near the lock pin (think german) (trademark)

1) 40 cal
2) Get a Lojack or Onstar Type Service can be used to track the thieves to the "chop shop
3)Generally avoid parking your car in a dark place, rather park it at a place where there is enough light to make your car visible to yourself.
4)If there is a car alarm system installed in your car, always turn it on before leaving the car and after locking it.
5)Always before locking the car pull the hand brake and keep your car in gear makes it harder to push or tow it. You can to avoid its towing.

I don't have an alarm on mine yet (I stress YET), but when I do... I will be getting one with a two-way pager. I have a Scorpio Alarm w/ 2 way pager on my motorcycle and it has given me some serious peace of mind. There hasn't been an attempt of theft on my bike yet, BUT... I have caught an a$$hole sitting on it when I had the alarm armed in silent mode while parked at work.

EDIT: you have me very curious about that pager thing... does it also track them, or jsut let you know when the alarm goes off?

Yeah I know. I like it though, it's right there on the doors so even if someone looks in on my car.
If anyone is ever in LI NY never go to the Westbury UA movie theater, cars there are broken into every night, even with alarms (have a story about that one).

The one for my bike has a proximity, motion and tilt sensor as well as a kill switch to the starter solenoid. When one of the sensors is set off - the alarm will send a page (up to 1/2 mile) to let you know which sensor was activated. I normally don't do anything unless the TILT sensor goes off - and that's how I busted the a$$hole sitting on my bike. The proximity page was sent to me first - then the tilt sensor went off, that's how I KNEW someone had the balls to actually sit on my bike and "tilt" it off the kickstand. Needless to say, he was pretty embarassed when I came outside and started yelling at him in front of his friends to get off my bike or I'll kick his ass! LOL (BTW - I had it in silent mode, so he wasn't even aware that there was an alarm on board until I surprised him.)
The one I have doesn't track it like a GPS, but I've heard that there are some out there that are available.

Nice all I need is one of those with my pistol and im set
but i can't bring a gun to highschool, so i was going to see if someone could teach me how to open the hood and do something to the wires so the car is unable to get started, killswitch i believe?
so my only defense from theft at school for my stang is my baseball bat

you could put an osha electrical lock on the neg battery cable... than you can padlock it and it wouldn't move :S
i'm sure there are better killswitch ideas, im not sure what car your talking about (i'm assuming mustang, but i didn't look to see what kind you had) but mine has a removable ashtray that you could probably fit a switch under and i doubt that would be a place to look for one.
another idea i just had, you could have a push button on the side of your seat, like you push it while turning the key to engage the starter... you can replace the lumbar support, just set it where you like, than use the switch for that purpose...
like i said before, i'm sure there are better options out there, like an actual alarm system with a built in kill button or something... just throwing ideas out there.

i thought it was halarious, even if it was fake... i kinda liked the ls1 story also with the guy running water through the oil to clean it all the crap out, than filling it with brake kleen... even though probably fake the guy was sure to mention that he didn't try starting it, just turning it over a tiny bit to get it all mixed around or something :S
back to the topic though, im looking at getting a bike, probably won't happen for a year or so, but i don't want it stolen. i had a radar detector lifted outa my little protege when i first moved up here and somehow walking off with a bike doesn't sound that hard. but looking at this system and one by "cylcone" something something, it looks like expensive systems still only have about a 1/2 mile fm freq pager... i want something with gps and will alert me even if i was in china. if i'm away from my house and the bike gets lifted, i want to make sure i get to find the sob(s) and get it back by what ever means i find necessary.

The gsxr guy was real. There was a guy on the magna forum telling us about it. Thats how i found it. Best thing for a bike is shed or garage. Put it in gear when you leave it. (at least it will slow them down) Put a lock or mastercuff on the rear wheel. They also make brake caliper locks. Also ALWAYS lock your front fork. (they can break it but that slows them down, and with it on there only going to push it in circles)
