I want another mustang that i can use as a daily driver so I can use mine current one for modding.
I dont want anything new or too expensive because I'll have no money left for parts.
I found 2000 Mustang GT back convertable for 4.5k
it has a "reconditioned title" and i noticed the front lights had been replaced with the smoked ones found in 01-04. It has a cold air intake cobra r spoiler that i would remove immidiatly because it looks really dumb with out the whole kit has 17' chrome wheels black leather and mach sound system with flowmasters 40's. it will have 137k in the next 400 mi. what do you guys think? worth it?
he does mention how ever that the a/c doesnt blow cold air
should i make him deduct what the cost to fix that from the price hes asking for? do you think 4.5k is too much for a salvaged car?
help please the sooner the better. its a really nice car

I think that wing alone should scare you away. It screams "I think I'm fast", so he probably abused the shit out of it. Plus, it's hideous.

If you can get the VIN, I should have some extra carfax reports... I may be able to use one to help you, though if I were you, I would ask the seller for one

Yes its really stupid. But i have an extra gt spoiler from a 2003 mustang that should fit right in.
thanks i'll ask him for the VIN and for a car fax also
even with the stock spoiler and it checks out to be okay, still not a good buy?

when my 01 v6's air went from cold to not blowing cold it was just a little sensor~ easy fix (cant remember which though) so it may not be a big deal~
you can find something better on gas for a DD though~ just something to think about

i wouldn't do it for 3 reasons
1) high mileage asking too much
2) salvage title and asking for 4.5 way too much, gonna be tough to sell it back out if u need too
3) does not seem like it was put together nicely, AC does not work, spoiler in back is hideous
overall u would have to do to much, b.c like u said u dont like the spoiler. so u will be fixing up shit on the car. i really think u can find a real cleaner mustang without all those bad things that the one u are looking at have. the guy is probably just trying to get a quick buck

I am in Los Angeles area... So i know about overpriced stangs- Ironically I spent maybe 3 months looking for the right stang through the same channels as you I ended up finding the car with a for sale sign at the local supermarket

The title would be my biggest problem. i'm not sure of your laws. But here in IL a salvage title means just that. It was totaled out by an insurance company. yes it still has a title but can't be registered, unless it is taken to springfiel(capitol) and inspected by the state. Wich is expensive and it has to be in NEW condintion, not like new, but new.

i just finished shopping for a 99-04 convertible gt. it's really hard to find one less than $8k. like you, i had my eyes on two that had salvaged titles. i steered away from them for resale reasons. plus, i bought a fixed up "lemon" once and it wasnt' really fixed up. lost my
!@##$ on that car.
in the end, used cars are crap shoots. i just bought one that was a great price, nice low mileage car, needed just a few simple things. even had three mechanics do pre-inspections. $2500 in fixes later, i'm still not sure it's working properly.
good luck!

the BEST way to buy a used mustang is from an enthusiast that KNOWS the car, LOVES the car, and takes CARE of the car. You may pay a little more but generally you get mods and a very nice clean car.
