instead of putting the lowest octane fuel in your v6.. would it hurt the engine, help the engine or do nothing to put the middle octane between premium and regular in your car when you gas up?
There is a myth that higher octane hurts cars AND THAT IS A LOAD OF CRAP!!! The fact is if it was harmful they would post it on the car as a warning or they would post it at the pump. The only reason not to run higher octane is that it is a waste of money PLAIN AND SIMPLE!!!
Now saying that if you live in a state like California with crappy gas you might have to go to mid grade so the octane is at the required level. There are many people on the forums that have said they have had to use higher octane to prevent their car from knocking or pinging.
here in LA regular works great for the stang no pinging no knocking. the reason that our stangs dont have to use higher octane fuel is because we dont have the compresion to make good use of it.
I run 87 in my car...I've ran 93 before, and couldn't tell a single difference, so I just stick with the cheaper stuff, esp with gas prices how they are now.
