Finally after to many years not helping us out Ford Motorsports has come out with Hi Peformance plug wires for 94-04 3.8's. They are 9mm and come in red or blue. They are about 30% to 60% less than any other aftermarket plugs out there. I found them for under $45.00 for either 94-98 and 99-04 at

I will let you know. But actually why wouldn't they be. They have always had a Universal kit for V6 and V8's and they are the same wires. The fact is stock Ford wires are good wires. Most people change really because of the color not because they are a performance upgrade.

I realize that it's not a performance part...
I was only asking if they are any good because, as you probably know, some wiresets tend to go kaput after only a few months (namely Bosch has had that trend lately). Was curious on the quality of these since they are a fairly new product.

Not really new The same wires were in a unversal set with eight wires you just had to pick the right length one. These kits have the wires prenumbered other than that they are the same wires just taylored to V6's
I know first hand about the plug wires from bosch. I bought some for my wifes 626 and they sucked. I took them back and bought the more expensive NGK wires and they are going strong

actually they can be classified as a performance part if they lower the resistance, since the heat in the engine causes electical circuits to build resistance a heavier guage wire might minimize that.

im not saying it adds power. all im saying is that it decreases resistance in high heat areas like an engine. heat builds resistance in wires that is a fact, a lower gauge wire (thicker) has less resistance than a higher gauge wire (thinner) that is also a fact.
BY GOD

In theory you are correct but until you convince me that the stock wires are not optimized for least resistance and larger is better then
BALDER DASH

i know i am
i never said that the stock ones were a restriction, i said these may lower resitance thus they are a performance mod because they actually do something good. i didnt say the had power gains though.

they only reason to get hi performance plug wires is if you run a professional top of the line full out dragster...
if you are just in need of a tune up and they look better might as well buy the nice looking red ones other wise.

they'd probably help if you were running much hotter than stock ignition system like MSD... its be about as effective as droping to a colder range of plug
those are very good plugs wires, they're been around FOREVER! they're supper snazzy too, they're 9mm so they're fatter than the average bear.

I don't see why something offering less restriction can't be considered an improvement...
porting heads merely reduces restriction and allows more air to flow, so if you have wires that offer less resistance they allow more current to flow.
IE its an improvement...a noticeable one maybe not, but still an improvement.

Well it would be an improvement if you had crappy wires. But the stock wires are not restrictive. Just like getting a larger T/B on a stock motor. There is no gain going bigger. In going from stock wires to MSD wires I saw no gains on the dyno. I am going to these new FMS wires because they are as cheap as stock wires and I have a bad MSD wire. I was not particularly impressed with how quickly my MSD wires have deteriorated considering they are less than 2 years old.
