Hi.
Im looking for a 2009 GT. I was told it has 300 HP in the engine, but how much does it transfer to the wheels?
Also I want to know what can I do to increase dramatically the HPs on the car, and how much an increase could we be talking about?
Thanks

The numbers you put down will vary from car to car and also dyno to dyno, but I've seen everywhere from 230ish up to 260ish stock
also in my opinion the best first mod you can do for a dramatic increase would be a good intake/tuner combo. I went with the JLT/SCT x3 from bamachips and was totally satisfied with it. Of all my mods I've done I noticed the biggest difference with that.

Common saying is a 10-15% parasitic loss from the engine to the wheels. This is usually higher when involving an auto tranny. You could see loss as much as 20%. One guy with a turbo Ws6 had a 17.2% loss.

My stock dyno was 286rwhp. Well, actually I did have a K&N intake at the time.
A dramatic change is forced induction.
Are you a gearhead and like to do you own work or have you at least modified other cars in the past?

How much would that cost and how many HP´s are we talking about here?
I had the impresion that I had to put in a supèrcharger or a turbo...or maybe both.
What Im looking fore is to obtain anywhere from 350 to 400 HP on the wheels.....if I can get more then even better.
Another thing, what are the consecuences of theese modifications on the engine?

most all 2005-2009 GT's (manual transmission) loose 17.5% in the drive train that means they dyno at 250-260rwhp/250-260rwtq from the factory~ with a CAI/exhaust/underdrive pulley/ and a GOOD tune (not just a mail order), you can expect 280-300
A stock one wont break 265rwhp unless the dyno isnt calibrated right.
The 2005-2009 GT 4.6L engine is good for 450-500rwhp. As you push over 450 you are at the limit though~ 500 can be done with a good tune but still you are just looking for trouble if you daily drive the car. To get these numbers the best way you will need a turbocharger setup. Superchargers are nice but they are simply not as good as a nice turbo setup as they dont require horsepower to make horsepower (superchargers require engine power to turn the belt to make the air go in faster vs a turbo that does not).
That will cost you 5-6k plus another 1-2k installation.

well if those are the power levels youre tryin to reach then forget what I said, the easiest way to do it would be either a turbo or supercharger and I think for the power levels your shootin for you won't notice a HUGE difference between the two, a small turbo will give you that power and still not have any turbo lag.

WOW! That would definetly be awsome! But there is also the price to consider....still....It could be a good option.
Where can I purchase this?
Is there any danger to the car when boosting up so much power?
And I imagine I would also have to modify at least brakes and suspension....would I?

If you only want up to 400rwhp then you can get an inexpensive centrifugal supercharger kit (as they are cheaper than those of the twin screw design). Your engine life will not suffer at that power level and you will proabably be around 5psi boost.
I say the more the merrier so, of course, upgrade all supporting systems of the stang; however, it is not 100% vital. At a very minimum, you must upgrade your lower control arms to reduce wheelhop during hard acceleration

I got the Techco SC on mine and am making 465hp & 450tq to the wheels @ 10psi on a stock motor and trans. As 05RedDevil said, at this HP level you have to upgrade your suspension, at a minimum you have to get rear control arms and springs all around (I'm running the FRPP springs), your stock suspension will handle like crap with these hp numbers and wear out quickly. A SC will run you betwenn $4500 and $9000 depending on what you get (mine was ~8k with install and tune). The other way you can get to around 400whp is if you spray it, but that's another story..................

I talked with a local mustang shop about the helion single turbo kit. Its going to run you 5000-6,000 plus 1200 installed (installation can vary) and the end result will be 500rwhp/tq at 10psi~ so you can tune it back to have around 450 at 7psi or so. Total will be around 6-7k
so all in all root supercharger vs turbo your looking about about the same price, give or take 1,000~
does the techco make a whine sound? I know some dont make any real noise

Yes it does, actually it has a very unique sound at idle but sounds like a jet engine once I hit boost. Let me put it this way, you can't miss it coming down the road
