Aight, I have a guy selling me a SCT tuned chip for my car tomorrow. I have a 2002 Automatic V6 with the PMP1 code. The chip is out of a 2002 Automatic V6 with the PMP1 code. This should be a dead swap right? No need to have the chip reflashed or anything. He's giving me a deal I can't refuse on it so if nothing else I'll install it for a little bit, get sick of using premium fuel, and keep the chip for when I want a little extra boost.

Raise rev limiter, speed limiter, shift points. That's about it I believe. He had no mods on his car besides a K&N...so I figure my car having just a K&N and exhaust it should be a dead swap.

It's just like 300 or something like that, nothing major. His car would break loose between 1st and 2nd with this chip in on WOT. But normal driving it drove perfect, got 2-3 mpg more with it in.

Ha aight, that's all I was really wondering. Just don't wanna buy this, put it in and it screw over my computer. If nothing else, I could sell it and make money off of it.

you need to get install instructions to make sure you do each step right, its not hard though.

Yeh, he walked me through the install and said he'll help me with it saturday to make sure I do it right. He got it down to a 5 minute or so install, said the longest part was making sure the battery was completely drained before removing the computer.

Not really.
You can safely raise it some on a stock car.
I am just bolt-ons no engine or valve train mods & at WOT my auto shifts at 6,000. It has been set this way for three years now with no bad effects.

why would you want to raise the rev limiter when the car peaks at 5250-5500 rpms... there is no point for the most part... ive just seen more than one car come in with a rasised or removed (which is REALLY double stupid) rev limiter and expect warranty to cover it lol... either way i guess its just the notion of people thinking the higher in the rpms you go the more power you make, which is of course totaly false, once you peak its all down hill from there, the only reason to go over peak is to boost your next gears rpm (wont drop as low) or to hold a gear at the track to save time that it will take to shift, so you cross the line with out having to shift again.

The only reason I'd want it is just to say I have a raised rev limiter...I never get my car near red lined...just nice to know I can. Same thing with removing the speed limiter, I'll probably never get fast enough to make a difference, but still nice to know I can.

my chip lowered my rev limiter personally... 6250 stock, 6050 w/chip.. there's no need to go over 6050... no need to go over 5800 RPMs, really.. shifting at 5800 RPMs drops me right back into my powerband...

Ever go down the track and miss a shift, hit the limiter, and trash the whole run? Ever spin a little bit and the car revs faster than you expected? Ever spray nitrous, and want a little more safety margin between your shift point and the rev limiter?

On the 4r70w 2nd and 3rd gears are spaced very far apart, the rpm drop after shifting into 3rd is pretty bad, setting the 2-3 at 5600-6k helps that.
