newbie here need help

well i like to say hello first to everyone.

ok here is the deal i have a 2001 mustang gt conv.
it has underdrive pullys and a hypertech program. i purchased a bbk throttlebody and a light bar the other day. here is the problem. i installed the throttlebody and took the car for a ride down the road. when i put it to the floor it boggs down any ideas why it boggs. car has been sitting in the garage all winter if that matters.

Swapping out the throttle body could be causing the car to run real lean/rich. This program you have installed, does it take into account the new TB? I know with my car, if I change anything with the air intake or exhaust, I need to get the Air Fuel ratio rechecked and/or corrected. A throttle body change could have a huge difference on how much air you bring in. If the car doesn't know what to do with that much air, it could become unhappy.

By the way, I am by no means a motor head. I am just stating things I have learned since buying my cobra.

i forgot to add i added a cold air intake also.

the program i have is a hand held power programer. i can't really change too much. i got it to change my speedo for the 3.73 gear i installed.

The throttle body sounds like your problem man...install your stock one and see if it still does it.

with the stock throttlebody it is fine. i wonder if the car has to adapte to the new part i installed. or i wonder if i need to buy something else. this thin wasn't cheap. i really don't want to use it 4 a paper weight

You should be able to get a custom tune for a hypertec tuner (I assume this works like SCT and Diablo). They can add more fuel to your tune and that will fix things. Or, you can get to a dyno shop and get it dyno tuned where they will add more fuel to the mix and you should be good to go. A dyno tune session here runs about $100 for 3 pulls plus a little more for the actually tuning.

If anyone else knows about hypertec and how that speal works, chime in.

i'll have to try to find my paperwork on my hypertech and see if says anything about getting it updated. thanks for the fast replys.

ps: installing a light bar in a mustang (pain in the rear)
i'll put up some pics of it in a couple of days when its done.
