i was just reading the issue of road and track that had the 05 or whatever GT-R(the orange riced out one) and they were comparing a 05 v6, a 05 gt, a 05 saleen Qsomething or whatever, a saleen s281 and the Cobra GT-R.
it said the v6 did the 1/4 in 15.2. pretty decent.
it said the GT did the 1/4 in 13.5 @ 102.
it said the s281 did the 1/4 in 13.5 @ 102 also
it said the Qsomething did it also in 13.5
it then said the GT-R did the 1/4 in 13.7@106. i could not believe this. how does a car with a supercharged 5.0 cammer in it run slower than a stock GT?
anyone else see this article and know the realistics of it? i was drunk at the time and it make me make a party foul. i suffered massive hits in the arm, and it better have not been in vain.

That doesn't make any sense....
I couldn't see how all that could be due to drivers, but how the hell else would it be true??????????

They are notorious for having bad drivers. Their 03 cobra tests only gave it like a 13.4 or something like that.
The "Qsomething" is probably the steeda Q. That is a 400 hp car...I am sure it does better than 13.5 in the 1/4. The s281, while over priced, should blast an 05 gt as I think it is near 400 hp and a bit lighter.
The fact that the GT-R trapped faster than the others, I am betting the driver couldn't hook for beans and had a 2 second or so 60 time...just like me.
Lesson of the day, never believe road and track. They can't drive.

Also the saleen has only 20-25hp more then a stock gt so dont expect it to run much if any faster then a gt.

Wow. I didn't realize the s281 was that close to the stock GT. After looking at their site, the 281 is rated 325 hp...and starts at 38k for a coupe. That is a big difference in price for such little gain. That is alot to pay for a name plate.

that is the s281-E. The s281-SC is only going to edge the 400 mark. I don't remember the exact number for the E, but it is more than the SC.
I know the name costs, but, 13k for a saleen badge and 20 hp is a rip in my mind. But, that is just me. I would rather pic up one of the new 04 cobras on the lots for like 26k and smoke all s281's.
Oh well, people will buy them.

drivers... and track... and possibly even equipment, also DONT forget alt. and weather play a BIG role in how fast a car runs... take those to a diff alt and you can loose/gain a second depending.
