This weekend some numbnutz wants to trade me straight up for my almost new 8.8 rear with 4.10s, LCA/UCA, springs, sway bar, brakes, etc. straight up, no money needed, and he's even going to pay for labor.
i am planning on taking my rear out AGAIN after having it for 2 weeks and bolting it to his 99 cobra this weekend.
i am looking around for IRS stuff, but not finding as much as i'd like. link me to an SVT or COBRA forum? i will want to replace bushings and crap ASAP as in, during the swap.
Also, do y'all htink this is worth it to keep it? Worst case scenario is that I swap with him, then buy a new 8.8 with 4.10s AGAIN and sell the IRS for a couple thousand dollars profit. what to do???
also, will a built IRS still launch on slicks a-ok? i want to still be able to drag race...

So you are trading your 8.8 + 4.10's and everything else for his IRS?
Interesting.. very interesting..
I don't think I've ever heard of anyone running IRS on a V6.
Remember, you will need to take his cat-back, and he will need yours.. The pipes are totally different, and the solid axle wont' work with his exhaust and the IRS won't work with yours.
So you may get some kickass mufflers out of it also

i talked with the manager of Maximum Motorsports and he was a little puzzled but said that it should be an easy bolt on, especially with bolt ons.
supposedly 350+rwhp you get wheel hop on IRS, but i don't have that, and if i do, well, i just bought new bushings that are good for more than that. yes i have a manual but i don't think i can pass up keeping it though. golden baby.
and yes i'm getting some dynomax muffs out of it.

on 99 to 2002 IRS on the Cobra's have a terrible wheel hop when drag racing. They have somewhat cured it on the 03 Cobra. Most heavy drag racers will lose the IRS.
and a hell yeah on the dynomax mufflers

i may have some REALLY ghetto exhaust here soon....
mac shorty headers --> gt exhaust (2.25") --> 2.5" cat back to mufflers -->3" piping to tips.
it's going to look like a trumpet.

Not just mufflers, but you may need new pipes from the muffler back. Unless the pipes you have now can be laid on their side.. Have you ever looked under a cobra to see how the exhaust is run?

like I posted on V6P, go for it.
You wont make that much torque(most likely) and even if you do, theres ways to cure the wheel-hop.

The whole IRS would not be a bad idea but I would find out what they did to the 03 to fix the severe wheelhop and also incorporate they into the swap also
