Hey all, just wanted to share some recent kills:
so I have an 08 4.0 with 3.73 gears and traclock (5 speed manual) cold air, single flowmaster and a tune... apparently all of that = faster than a charger R/T, I have taken two now, both from a roll of about 45. The second one had the superbee paint job (it looked bad ass... in my rear view mirror) on average I can take chargers now with about 2 car length per gear so at the top of 4th rolling from the top of second I end up with about a 4 car lead.
Also, tonight I took a 99-04 style GT (not sure if it was auto or manual, I'm guessing auto) we had three runs and I walked it on all three, it had about the same pull as the charger R/Ts. Woot!

forgot to mention the delay with the 98GT vs new v6 video, I have been ridiculously busy at work... I know the race should only take about 14 seconds... but yeah, I'll get on it as soon as I can!

I'm guessing I'm around mid to low 14s, I'm skeptical about the claims that the charger R/T runs a 13.9 1/4 mile, I haven't lost to one ever since the gears and traclock and there's no way that I'm in the 13s... I think they run mid to high 14s at best.

One was a roll from 55, since I have 3.73 gears I was starting in the middle of 3rd so he got away from me at first but by 5500 rpm I was ahead, the second was a roll from 45, I was starting at the top of 2nd and hit it after the charger did but he never got ahead of me

IMHO...roll racing is the gayest thing on earth...Roll racing is all about where you are in the powerband of your car...Different cars perform better than others in certain areas of the powerband....
The only real way to race someone [in a straight line] is from a dig/rest...I do believe the R/T's would take you from rest...

How is it "gay" exactly? It's the same power to weight ratio from a dig as it is from a roll, the only difference is you have to know how to launch. I guess if you have an auto you'd rather not race from a roll.

Must agree, Roll racing is for people who need to wait for Vtak to kick in! Roll racing involves 0 skill, removes all driver error, whats the fun in that. The best races are when your beating the driver, not the car.

still not seeing it, the launch is the only difference and even then all you do is upshift right before you hit the limiter as you go through each gear, if you're going from a roll you might have to downshift quickly and match flywheel to clutch RPM and whatnot.
From a dig it's a better race for sure but that opportunity isn't always available.

Eventually! I'm kind of a workaholic so the only speed fixes I get are too and from work, hence the freeway/backroad races that are never from a dig, I'll have to get some radials and figure out where I stand on paper at a strip one of these days though for sure!

Not a chance...Come on, as a real racer, you should know that roll racing is one of the dumbest forms of "racing" there is...
Here's why...
When you're roll racing, you're not going through the full powerband of a car...Depending on where you're rolling from (e.g. 45, 55, ~80, whatever), you are in different power bands of the cars depending on your gearing & what gear you're in...
If you line up two cars from a roll & one happens to be at a spot in the power band that is better than the other, that car is going to win the race, regardless of driving skill...Does winning a "race" because you started from a roll at a point in which your car was at a better point in the power band mean your car is faster, not a chance...
Racing from a rest/dig forces you to go through every level of the powerband and multiple gears in your car, which is where you really define not only whose car is faster, but who is the better driver...

Not to mention the fact, how do you define the "winner" of a roll race? There is no official start nor is there an official finish...I am not going to be the street racing monitor here, but you can't call it a race if there are no starting or stropping points...
At a track, you have a start on green and you have a finish when you cross the line...person who gets there first wins, and you if you jump too soon, you lose...it's not about "who let off first" or "who chickened out" or blah blah blah...it's a race with a start and an end...and a real "kill"...not the "I killed you because we rolled from 65 to 120" but i let off at 90 so you 'killed' me"...

and no, it's not...depending on where you are in the power band of you motor, you're going to making different amounts of power...so your power/weight ratio is NEVER constant...
Peak HP means very little...it's more about the shape of the curve leading up to that peak power & the slope of that curve along the way...
Very steep power curves need to "wind up" to their peak power...i.e. then need to get the rpms way up to generate a lot of power...

I agree for the most part with you, though I've seen some really good roll vids that display true dumbasses at their finest. Some drivers upshifting a gear instead of downshifting, or completely missing gears after the go...

well, im not pissing in anyone's cheerios but those hemi chargers are not a slouch, its kind of hard for me to believe that a lightly modded v6 taking down the hemi chargers when they are mid to high 13 second cars, not to mention when they are rolling, they have more than enough power to hold their own. im not bashing anyone but this is where i would have to see the race to actually believe it.

So today I finally took one from a dig to settle this crap, it was an R/T and he reved it up so I looked over at him an revved mine up (which sounded like a zipper in comparison) and when the light went green we both chirped and took off... By the top of first he had about a have of a car length and then second through fourth he was in my rear view... No difference to when I have taken them from a roll. God damn I love this car.
