Hi all Im new to the forum and just wanted to say Hi.I have a 2007 V6/w pony package.
I was thinking of adding a cat back exaust and a BBK cold air intake.Would this void the warranty on the car.The cold air intake does not require a tune. Thanks for the info...

There are laws to protect consumers-who want to modify their cars. The only time there is a "potential" problem-is where they are able to "trace back" to the add on parts-as being a "cause"/ "contributor"-and then they can disqualify the warranty work-but they have to be able to first, definatively prove -the mods "caused" the problem in the first place. I say go for it, and welcome!

they can only void the warranty if they can proove that what you did caused the damage, but ...some dealers dont care about the law and will just tell you its voided when its not

Thanks guys for the advise. It is my understanding that the warranty can not be voided unless you re-tune the engine?Which the BBK intake does not require.Do you have any info on tuneing???

they can only void the warranty on the part you replace and any parts it influences. An exhaust would only void the exhaust warranty for example. Some ford dealers are very anal about this and will void the entire thing at the drop of a had... it is illegal and they are in the wrong but try fighting it... you wont win.

maybe try asking your local ford dealership first and see their view on it before going through with this just in case you have a problem down the road

I worked as a tech for years. I've never seen a voided warranty from a cat back exhaust and a cold air intake.
you will be fine.

He speaks the truth !! The dealer has you by the balls when it comes to mods Some are very cool some are asshole !! Doesn't matter if you tune for the CAI or not Although if your not gonna tune for the CAI you might as well stay stock
Quotes form Justin From VMP Tuning
"The BBK CAI no tune requires that the factory transfer function be modified by roughly 15% for fueling to be correct, that is a fact.
However, without proper tuning, it may eventually set a check engine light.
I just don't see the point in putting so much effort into something that is still technically wrong. "
2nd quote
"None of those people you quoted are actual tuners though. There is a big benefit to "claiming" that your intake requires no tune, its appealing to the consumer that has not done a lot of research, and makes them think they can get into a performance part for less money. In reality, properly tuning the PCM is important when you put the MAF sensor into a larger housing.
I would say that KN is probably the only true no tune required intake, and thats because its CARB legal and they must answer to the government"

they don't void the warranty anyway. they just tell you that they can't fix it under warranty because of the aftermarket. If that happens. just go to another dealership.
