I've seen that the best way to remove these is a hairdryer and patience, but once they are off, what's the safest stuff to remove the leftover glue/gunk?

any bumper sticker or adhesive remover found at an autoparts store would be fine......just read the label

they come off pretty easy just got to take your time with some car wax to remove the residue.

All you need is a good fishing line, no hair dryer required! And then just take some car wash soap, and then wax the door were the rubber senior citizen bumper was!
This means for you Fisher and DOM...GET-R-DONE!
