Hello,
I was just trying to figure out where my IAT sending unit or IAT sensor plug is located on my 1989 Mustang LX 5.0L. I just got a performance upgrade mod, and the instructions say I need to locate the IAT sending unit or IAT sensor plug. But I don't know where to look for them at.
Please Help Me!
Thanks,
Nyssa

I'm not sure. The information I got says we do. It says it may be located in the air intake tube or in the intake manifold or right around your throtthle body. I tried to look but I couldn't find anything. I don't even know what it looks like

okay I just completely checked the intake arm/throttle body.. I did not find an IAT anywhere's on my '89, nothing ahead of the throttle body anyway.. if there's anything else its under the intake manifold but that makes no sense since our TBs are heated

are you sure its not the ACT (air charge temp sensor) or IAB (idle air bypass) and you just got them mixed together? the ACT is located on the driver's side of the lower intake behind the distributor. the IAB is on the throttle body.

it was that little mod that puts a resistor on your IAT sensor to make it think its colder than it is

I am guessing that you have a 5.0 CFI engine, Sooo I looked it up in my Hayne's manual to see if I could help.
You do not have a IAC on your engine, the IAC is for carburated engines (That's what the book says anyway.). According to this manual you have an ACT: Air Charge Temperature sensor. It shows the location of the ACT sensor on the intake manifold, it has an electrical connector on it. I scanned an pic from the manual that will hopefully help you find it.

That's odd, my Haynes book is for 79-93 and the only 5.0 it listed in the ECS section for EEC-IV was the 5.0 CFI.
There is a 5.9L SEFI on the page after that...could that be a typo?
I'm not familiar with the spec. on alot of the older Stangs...

Well... I'm not really sure. The directions say, "You may have to do some searching to find your IAT (Intake Air Temperature) sending unit is located. It is usually located in the Air Intake Tube (where the air flows into your engine) or it may be located in the intake manifold, or right around the throttle body. It should be a connector/plug with two small wires going to it, and a clip on the side of the plug." But I couldn't find it. Maybe the directions are wrong, I don't know

It is a performance module: it is a +20HP speed chip. It says, "By using our Performance Module your Ford Mustang's ECU will receive slightly adjusted ratios which make your car think its taking in more cold air, which inturn will cause the Air/Fuel ratios to be slightly adjusted to offer more performance."
