are you planning to add a turbo or supercharger in the future? otherwise, your stock headers are good up to about 300hp and imo, the increase you'd see isn't worth the price of headers and I believe some people have reported loss of low end torque. someone else can confirm or deny this that has headers.

Long tubes are useless for the turbo systems currently available for the Stang.
Something to think about. No sense buying a part that'll be useless later and long tube headers won't just bolt in without either buying other parts or cutting your stock system up to fit them. Not to mention that adding aftermarket headers to the stock single exhaust system is kinda like polishing a turd.

Ah, ok, I was thinking that your mention of an X pipe ban was the same as not having duals to begin with. Sorry about that.

On a v6 there is none except for sound really.
I have shorty headers and to tell you the truth I kinda regret getting them. They have already sprung 2 leaks since I installed them about 5 or 6 months ago.
Unless you need them don't really bother with headers if they are shorties. I didn't even feel much of anything from them but they made my exhaust sound almost like my car is cammed.

Cheapest and best bet for you:
Get a set of 94-98 headers, they are a good true shorty and
have better collectors than the 99^ log type. Good to ~250 RWHP
and you can get a set for $50 or less. What you really need is a CAM.

He's a smart man, cuz it is an even-fire engine, so crossovers
do not have nearly the impact as they do on the V8's which
are odd-fire, meaning that the pulses on each side are not
evenly spaced in each bank. There is 1 out-of-phase firing
on each side and the crossover helps even it out between
banks on a V8 but the V6 does not have this imbalance.

No he is saying find some 94-98 stock short tubes . See the 94-98 cam stock with a nice set of short tube headers and instead of spending over $200 spend like $50
I will be perfectly honest and this is not to put you down but about 80% of the people just getting into modding V6 Mustangs say they will either Supercharge, Turbocharge or Nitrous but less than 5% actually do. It is just as you mod most people become more and more driven to have a GT or Cobra simply because of V8 envy. Only a handful of determined V6 guys actually go for the major mods. This is not to discourage you but to get you to actually plan and set actual goals on what you want to accomplish. Do you want a street cruiser for boulevard blasting, do you want to drag race, autocross or have a show car because these things will determine what you actually are going to do. There are several people here that do those things often. So decide where you want to go and these people are here to help you along you road to V6 performance

Actually getting used stock headers and getting Corey to coat them
is a great way to get the HP and look good too! Not to mention cheaper...

keep in mind that headers are expensive for kids (i recall that you are a teen) like us. shops see us with a mustang and hear that we want headers and then they rip our faces off with a price.

Stock 94-98 headers come out without much problems. It is a good do-it-yourself job and save money.

That's life for everyone. Plumbers, electricians, etc... will rip your face off with their prices, too.
So, learn to do it yourself. When I was a young squid my first car cost me $257, including tax, title, and license. That was in 1984, so it was a POS car but it was what I could afford. I learned that I really couldn't afford the car, it needed lot's of work that I couldn't afford to pay someone elese to do. So I learned to do it myself.
