Saturday afternoon my wife calls me and she's broken down on the side of the road. I work the Grave shift at one of the Vegas resorts and it's 2pm, basically right in the middle of my sleeping time. Luckily for me Vegas has a complimentary roadside service van that drives around all day helping people on the free way. He helps her make sure all is good and she limps it home while I sleep soundly.
Fast forward to today. I've got the car on the jackstands, remove the wheel, brake caliper, caliper mounts, etc. All of the studs are starting to rust a bit so I figure I'll remove them and replace them all. Or so I thought. I tried for an hour and a half and the damned things wouldn't come off. So I called the service department at the Ford dealer I used to work for and got ahold of one of my friends. He's looking through his system and he can't even find a parts number for the studs. There are no studs! At least not seperately. All he's showing is a wheel hub for $389. Now after some work I yank out the bearings and get the rotor off and bingo. I don't need to hub but aparently they attached all the frickin studs to the rotor and now I have to pay for a whole new rotor. What happened to the days of pounding it out, buying a $1.50 part and moving on. I love Fords, they're usually pretty easy to work on but whoever designed this little assembly had his head way too far up his ass. Needs to be strung up by his balls and left to die.
Ok, I'm off the soap box. Continue with your day...

Yeah, my Mustang GT and F150 both have removable studs. You may consider trying to see if you can "retro fit" a new rotor design with removable studs in.

It's just one of those REALLY annoying features. I don't think i would have even been that annoyed if I had known ahead of time they were gonna work that in there as an added feature that eats away at the wallet. I also probably would have been so pissed if I hadn't had to yank away at some seriously too tight bolts with a shoulder that was cut open/operated on 3 days ago. My gawd that hurt like nothing else. Oh well, leasson learned.
