I want to get a little more traction at the strip than I am getting with my stock 225/55/R16's. 60' is terrible. I have extra rims to trade out tires when I go, so I can use wider ones at the track for the rear tires. I just want to slip enough that I don't break the 7.5 rearend. Does anyone have experience in tires and sizes to make the determination to choose between 245/50/R16 or 235/50/R16? Also, which brand?

I know personally T/A drag radials are too much for the 7.5. Would the KDWS's slip more/enough? I know that I can break into the mid to upper 14's with the right traction.

Just looking for ideas while I am looking for an 8.8 rearend.

Are you wanting drag tires for your stock rims?

Yes. I am wanting drag tires. I will primarily use them going to the track.

I might run them around town occasionally, if it looks good on the car.

Well..the stock rims won't really work with anything over a 235.

I had 255/50/R16 T/A Drag Radials on when I broke my posi. They at the bottom of the required rim width according to the chart.

Mickey Thompson Drag radials.

They hook like none of the others.

I don't want to break the rearend again, so I think the M/T's are a little too much.

Any other advise regarding tire size and type to provide the best traction without breaking the 7.5?

any drag radial or slick will risk breaking your 7.5. for now keep practicing with the street tires... they hook better than you may think with enough practice.

I decided to go with 245 50 vr16 Nitto street tires. I'll let everyone know how they/I do.
