My ride is an 03 v6 auto.I've noticed everytime I floor the gas from a stop or just moving out at slow speed the trans either shifts out from 1st too quickly or the throttle seems to bog briefly. My car is basically stock. Its frustrating, feels like what power I do have is not being utilized.I need suggestions...

sounds normal too me, it will shift from 1st quicker under normal conditions so you get better gas mileage, and when you floor it, it does take some time to "kickdown", I had the same thing when i had my 01 v6. a chip, or shift kit, can help fix that

The shift kit,I'm guessing that is best left to a pro to install?I've not found many sources for that type of work.Messing with a tranny is not my thing, don't want to mess things up.

they are easy to install... but they are easy to screw up.... so let a pro do it... in most cases a chip can drastically help your shifts... i would do the chip first then do the manual valve body shift kit last.... shift kits can ruin a tranny even if put in right... you take a risk... my 97 never had a problem. A well installed well built shift kit can increase the trannys life also faster shifts = lower friction = lower temps... but you got to actually not abuse it lol... every 20 degrees of temp drop on a tranny nearly doubles its life.
get a chip, that should help you out a ton, but not just a mail order cheap a REAL CHIP.

Thanks guys,I love this place!I have a Jet Chip on now which doesn't do a whole lot(big suprise, huh). As far as getting the kit installed...should I just call some reputable tranny shops or do I need to find a speed shop?At one time I was thinking of swapping out rear end gears. When I called around, most shops didn't want to do it.

it takes a good tech to swap gears out.... not that its hard you just got to set em up right or they whine and all sorts of this and thats...a great way to get around this is to order an 8.8 rear end from speedconcepts.net for 725.00, you will need axles from a pre 99 8.8... and spacers for a 99+ but... its worth it. If you can find a 99+ GT rear thats great also but you will have to swap the gears out still.
Find a place the WARRANTIES the install and if it screws up or anything you will be covered.. i wouldnt do it until my warranty was up if it was me and get a REAL chip you will be thankful you did.

Hey man, just read this thread. I have an 02 auto 6er. I was annoyed with my auto as well, got a SCT tuned chip. It shifts from 1st to 2nd around 10 mph now when I'm just going, but when I get on it hard, it waits till around 6k. I can almost pull 60 out of first gear. Made a huge difference in my car though, mail order chips can't do that.

well not that it aint a good thing to get a chip lol but getting to 60 in first gear is a sign of bad gearing .... but you do have 3.27s stock.... i cant even get to 60 in second gear lol

the install is very easy, but the dealer will know if you put a chip in regardless if you leave it in when you take it or now... if they look that is... but its pretty darn easy to stick on in.

I have a one stage chip, premium only, only 3 bucks more a tank, not too bad. As far as install goes, once you do it once, the second time and etc takes about 15 minutes tops, and the majority of that time is spent on cleaning off the connectors. If you need any help on install just hit me up on aim or on here.
And brent..yes I know. Only did it once just to see exactly where it was, not doing that one again, I was cringing for my car.
