1994 3.8 V6 conversion to 1997 4.6 SOHC

I am in the process of upgrading my 1994 convertible from a V6 to a V8. Received some good information from Otlaw80, but also like some input from folks that have the 4.6 SOHC.
I originally bought an 88 Crown Vic for the 302 with plans of converting it to carb and putting in the convertible. Last week, I bought a wrecked 97 GT that has a 4.6 SOHC and now not sure which one I really want to put in the convertible. I do know that the 4.6 only had 9400 miles on it when it was wrecked and had been bored 20 over when it was rebuilt. The 302 only has 34000 original miles on it.
If I were to use the 97 4.6, would I have to change the entire wiring harness?

i do have a question, why a carbed 302? why not just use efi on the 302 and use its popularity to your advantage, its cheaper to upgrade than the 4.6 and than you would have the nice consistancy of efi, and big hp for slightly less... don't forget the 94 and 95 had efi 302's in them... so sourcing parts wouldn't be any harder than anything else, i did notice on the other topic you had your hands on a modded 4.6... that might be a better bet for the money if you knew exactly what was done to it.

The phlenum on the donor car is backwards from what I need for the convertible (a friend told me to just take the phlenum off and turn it around backwards, but not sure that would work) not to mention, I know more about carbs than fuel injection . I am probably going to use the 4.6 in the convertible and find another body to put the 302 in. Thanks for the advice. Sorry, can't find the Thanks button.

its cool, don't worry about it, if you have spare time and money, i would build the 302 up, make a nice strong engine than put it in a fox body, thats pretty much what everyone does, they are light (compared to most muscle cars) and make good drag cars

Think that is what I am going to do. Had already been thinking about building the 302, but didn't have enough money to do the rebuild and replace the convertible top. Would like to put one on the drag strip. :-)
