I looked at the pics, does the 05 have a sensor so it knows not to deploy a passenger airbag if no one is sitting there? Didn't look like it went off to me.

Why would the airbag go off in a rearender?
Anyway, it shoulda been the F350 driver that lost, imo.

Well, I got rearended by a semi doing 45ish, I was stopped. Apparently he thought rooting around on the floor for his cell phone was more important than paying attention to the extremely heavy stop and go traffic in front of him. He shoved me into another semi. Ever been the meat in a semi sandwich and seen it coming? Ever notice how a Freightliner grille looks like a cheese grater?
Anyway, none of my airbags went off. I got to wondering why and after a few calls I finally got hold of Pontiac's customer service and was basically told a rearender won't trip the airbags unless I hit something ahead of me hard. Since I was the crumple zone that slowed the rear semi enough to not trip my airbags I suspect that is why they didn't go off.
Anyway, from the pic it really doesn't show any indication the Stang hit anyone in the front. And yes they do have an airbag sensor for the pass side.

he's damn lucky the truck driver wasn't going faster. that mustang is almost GONE after the front seats, in that pic it looks like everything back from the doors was taken off.. he's lucky to be alive
he's got some serious cash coming from insurance and possibly lawsuits for this
RIP- poor stang

eh who knows on the lawsuits. whos he gonna sue the guy who lent the truck to the guy with the suspended liscene?
Honestly think this guy is gonna be able to afford to pay off someone when it seems that hes a screw up himself. Its a crappy situation thats for sure.

It's not gone, it's all where the rear seats go...
Thanks for the answer Ponycarman. I thought it was odd for only one to go off, but that makes sense.

Yeh, I believe the new stangs have a weight sensor in the front seats to tell if there is a person there, or just junk, to determine if the air bags should deployed or not.

yes they do, and they also do the little chime thing when you don't wear your seatbelt for the passenger too
