you do realize that this is the beginning of the end, right?
some robots will be programmed wrong and will become destructive. this will reek havoc amongst all humans and we will not be able to stop them.

im down for a little robot asskicking. besides, wont be long till bill gates has his hands on them, and then all you have to do is run around in circles till it has a illegal operation message and crashes.

Eh, Honda's robot couldn't handle the all might QRIO!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's Sony's Robot. This thing kicks ass, I'd trade my soul for one cuz it's so awsome. Here's a side story for you guys, I went to this site and e-mailed Sony how much they are selling the QRIO robots, just for laughs. The next morning I get a call from a Sony Rep in Japan telling me personally that QRIO isn't for sale.
O_o
It was kinda weird, but Sony is pretty cool for actually calling me to answer my question like that.. even if they did call me from Japan lol
Check out the vids, you'll want one too. They are the next iPod :P

Robots won't ever think. They won't ever evolve. They won't ever become self aware. They won't ever start wars against humanity.
They just run programs.

haha...
do you realize that our brains are nothing more than chemicals that interpret electrical impulses.. computers are VERY alike. also, in the next few years ORGANIC computers that use DNA will be for sale. if you dont believe me.. google DNA computers.

so essentially its only a matter of time before computers will be programmed to program themselves from learning... the same as we do.

If computers ever program themselves, it'll be because somebody programmed one to do it. Computers are just a tool. They have more in common with your toaster, or perhaps a shovel than they do with anything that's alive. With the right sensors and a little programming, you can make one that does a half-way decent job of acting like a biological, but that's all it is...acting. I've programmed "neural net" programs. They act like they learn, but really it's just complicated mathematical formulae, no where near real learning. I'm looking for a decent link about what neural nets are, and how they work, but I'm having trouble. If I find one, I'll post it up.
I know I didn't convince you, and there probably isn't anything that I could say that would do so. It is, however, my professional opinion (as a programmer) that there will never ever ever ever ever be a computer that becomes "self aware" and acts of it's own initiative in it's own self-interest...but only time will tell.

I belive they use LISP language to code him since the information contained can be updated and changed for new variables, everything, including the program is all the same so it can be altered and reset... interesting but they got A LONG way to go yet

I'll be damned if a robot with a lisp is gonna rule the world. A robot, hey, it could happen. but one with a lisp? no way.
