I installed a new Headunit and along with it i bought a dash kit from walmart for 97 and up fords, or 95 and up fords. However, the dash kit is like a 1/2 inch short and loose. there are some hindges on top of the dash kit that look like they need to be put in somewhere, but there is no where to put them, so i ran some string in and out of the hindges and it tightened it. But still it's a little loose still and there is a small gap in between the air condition nobs and the end of the dash kit.
Moral of this post, does anyone have a link to a dash kit they would Recommend for a 04 stang?
thanks.

nope it's for headunits it basically is just the area between the a/c knobs and the bottom of your radio.

You need a dash kit for a 2001-04 Ford Mustang, it is probably the same dash kit as all the other Fords the similar years.
Metra Part# 99-5026
You can get it at any place that sells car audio stuff, or at least you should. I know for a lot of people Wal-Mart is the best thing they can have - to me Wal-Mart is cancer, stay away from them. Try the local mom and pop install shops. If not you can try Best Buy, Autozone, Advance, or Pep Boys. Check their aisles if not ask if you can order it. They will only carry a small selection in stores but it doesn't always mean the product doesn't exist.

I've used it plenty of times. The 94+ radios were two single DINs where in 2001 they used the double DIN.
Hm, actually mine has the pocket on top too but sometimes other kits do work. Many are somewhat universal, like I said around the same time a single kit can cover a few cars.
It is possible you assembled the kit wrong. Also sometimes the tabs pop off. Your kit should only have tabs on the bottom. There should be two, on the left and the right and each one has two holes in them. The holes line up with little pins on the bottom and the original screws from the stock radio get screwed back into the original location. There really isn't a way to secure the top, the top is more of a pressure fit. Really just sits there. The kit fills up the entire space.
I would say perhaps your kit is upside down, but it sounds just too short then.

the screw holes are on the opposite side of the pocket. i don't think i assembled it wrong.. although i might have, i think it's just to short because i got it at walmart. does yours have little tabs on the top? like hindges kind of?
