So I have been reading up on 351 swaps and have come into some more questions I can not find straight answers on.
1. which type cam/roller set up would be considered better? (i heard it got changed around 94 ish...)
2. on the newer ones i've finding two options, 1. AIR in head, 2. AIR in manifold. i'm pretty sure AIR stands for something and doesn't mean just air...
3. which one of the above should i be looking for if it is better to get a newer cam/rocker/roller whatever setup.
I think thats about all I have questions on for now. Can't wait for money to roll in so I can start this. Thanks in advance.

There are flat tappet cam 351's, and there are roller cam 351's. Technically the roller is better but only marginal i would think(and more expensive). I wouldn't worry about this option if your building on a budget. Even with the flat tappet cam/lifter set up they make a numerous amount of cam set ups for them, and u can still get a roller rocker setup for it.

the later model 351's are roller blocks. in any case, both can be made to fit in either block. main question would be how high you plan on revving it and what kind of driving you plan on doing?
AIR is a system ford as well as other companies used to inject air into the exhaust system to fully burn wasted exhaust gas. its an emmisions thing. my car hasnt seen the air pump since i got it
as far as the 3rd question, again, depends on your goals.

looking mostly as a track car, autox, and maybe some drag... but it will be driven somewhat like a dd... like a back up dd or somethin...
though i've been thinking about it, a stroked 302 might be nice, tiny bit lighter... plus i'm looking at a t56 swap and that thing is almost double the weight of a t5 from what i've read. was mostly looking at the 351 for power, and its weight might be worth it... but autox isn't just about power, you have to turn as well... i have a lot of things to consider... who knows, i might not even do this right now, might try something else.

I would do a 331 or 347 stroker. It will rev a little bit better than a 351 but still make a lot of power to help you get off the corners. It will also be the same weight as a 302 so you wouldn't have to worry about throwing off the balance of the car.

just standard redline i guess... 5800 seems fine, not going f/i and the power of the 302 drops off by than, so i don't really see much point in going over 6k unless magically the 351 can make good power past that

Normally I'm all for the 351W swap, but in the case of a 94-95 it's usually more hassle than it's worth. Sounds like you're going carbed- which eliminates a few hassles related to induction- but still leaves issues with the exhaust (header fitment), front accessories, and possible hood clearance problems.
There isn't much support in the aftermarket for a 351 swap in your body style, so things like headers and bracketry will have to be modified to work. Even with a carb, you'll likely hit the hood with any intake setup that's worth anything, so budget for fiberglass. A stroker will make the entire project a little more straightforward.

i was planning on a the 95 cobra r hood (the second raised part in the middle) like ford did for their 351... of course it would be stroked, no since in doing all that work just to tear it all out and redo it. i was planning on efi, since the 302 in it is efi i heard it's basically a direct swap wit ha couple changes.
EDIT: but i'm not sure which direction i wanna take with this, i'm going to do a lot more research and see what happens

a 347 with the same parts as a 351 will blow the doors off the 351 any day of the week.
now 347 vs 408, thats a tougher fight... and 357 vs 427 even thougher.... all depends on what your trying to do.
but if you go 351 get the older flat tappet block and convert it to roller... and yes roller is light years ahead, using flat tappet would be like running drum brakes in this day and age.. but the old blocks will take some serious punishment, the newer 351's on the other hand won't take as much as a 5.0 block from what I hear.
personally I'd pick the head to suite your HP needs and work from there.. however much head you plan to afford should dictate the motor you put under it, not the other way around.
